The Bug hostel is in Midpines, about a 45 min to 1hour drive away from Yosemite. MapQuest says just under 4 hours to Midpines from Santa Rosa. There can be snow on 4/20, but who knows, it can be sunny and warm and beautiful, or pouring down rain/snow, the bug hostel is only 3000-3500 ft in elevation.
Now FDD when we're having these get-to-gethers isn't that the point to go somewhere in the "middle of nowhere" so no one can f--k with us? Also, we need to spread these parties out a bit, the last one was near Sactown, we need to keep our SoCal friends in mind too!
In saying that, I think we (I) should work on a Yosemite get-to-gether for June and do something elsewhere on 4/20. Too funny about these places jj is picking out...I lived in Lincoln from Nov 87 to Nov 89, and lived in Walnut Grove the winter/spring of 89-90 before coming up to work in Yosemite again that summer...lol. The Walnut grove place sounds great jj, see what's up with that!
Walnut Grove the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder and Little house on the prairie ....LOL.....and hopefully a kick-ass 4/20 party!

OH MAN! I am so in. Sign me up JJ. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Geez I'm just about giddy. I was just really bummed I had to miss the last one but I won't miss this one. I don't care where it is. The twenty acre place with a lake sounded bomb. A big tent for a hotel? Just thinking out loud but whatever is fine for me.

That's part of the problem, too many sit back & it makes it harder to plan. Or the commit & don't show. If I knew for sure that 50,75,or100 people will show up, it would be easier to plan.
I got to figure out a pre-payment method. If everyone pre-paid their $20 this would be a breeze.
As it is, I have to figure out a way to underwrite this myself & hope to get the money back.
The Yosemite hostel & camp far west campgrounds are 'pay yourself' affairs, but less privacy.
Renting one of these houses, would give us total privacy & control of what does & dosen't happen!

I have no problem pre paying $20, heck I'll gladly drop a $100 bill for any of those places. I surely don't mind paying a bit more and having less people.....Let me know where to send the $$$$, we should start collecting the money early and maybe have a draft total of money collected and how much more is needed or whatnot.

I understand 100% jj about the finances. If we do the math it should be a "no brainer" coming up with a $20 donation from everybody. It cost us $10 a day to use Camp Far West, so $30 for the 3 day event, unless your camping then it's $20 a night, easy math if you ask me.
I think set up a Pay-Pal account or a P.O. box, those who donate will get a private invite to the party with details and a map. If you don't donate, then no invite. I think to cover our asses it should be a $40-$60 donation which is more then reasonable if you ask me for what we're getting, just in case we don't get the attendance we're expecting. If there is left over funds use those funds to help buy food/party goods that will be needed.
I want to see this thing go off, but I understand jj situation/concerns, so the sooner we can put together funds as a community for this party, the better off we'll be.
We have 4 months to put this thing together, lets go folks and rally around jj to make this thing happen. Here's my $60, count me in...

Well I just go off the phone with the owner of the Walnut Grove property. Sounds like a really nice guy & the right place for us.
For $450 per night we can reserve the entire place for the weekend of 420. Fri/Sat/Sun.
There's sleeping for 12-14, plus a boat dock & Full Hook-up RV spots!
They need $675 deposit & $675 on arrival. We would be the only ones there, lots of parking
I figure $30 gets you in for 3 days! Furthest attendees get the beds, everyone else can camp or hotels are only a couple of miles away.
Take another look at these pictures & tell me what you think.

Cash would be great, but we need to figure a way for others to pre-pay the $30.
