well right now my left hand is numb and it feels like im loosing strength in my shoulder and its been happening for two months from pinched nerves. ive been checked by two doctors. the first one said i have three herniated discs in my neck with no proper exam. the second doctor said my spacing was correct from the xrays and that i need an mri to actually see everything. i go to a neurologist friday. i bought a new bed which doesnt make a difference and this is the second time ive had pinched nerves. i dont think its my spine thats hurting its my muscles in my back thats unbearable alot of the times. stretching doesnt do anything and ive lost weight to help. anyone else have similar problems? it affects my sleep and my lifestyle. and im in pain 24/7. im just curious as to why my muslces hurt so bad but no spinal pain. i was in a bad wreck in 2004 which i am told is probably the root of my problem. anyone else feel the same and what was the diagnosis

...every day is back pain day. I've been in 3 accidents which caused varying degrees of whiplash. Also, a fall from 14 feet and a lot of other 'stuff' including a herniated disc. The reason that there could be no spinal pain per se is a matter of presentation and referral. You could likely trace it back to you feet somehow - but "damnit Jim, I'm a musician not a doctor" ...something like that :)

Either way, an indica plant works great for me, even when I'm headed for a vomit-inducing migraine.

yeah most of my pain starts in my neck and upper and mid back levels. my lower back isnt nearly as bad except two muscles near my butt at my lower back those muscles have been tight since i can remember. i was just curious if someone had similar problems and what the diagnosis was. the doctor told me i could still have herniated discs and my spine not hurt. and i was also told my car wreck is probably the root of the pain

It depends on how much you want that pain to dissapear. Enough to go to Pilates or Yoga sessions 3 times a week? :)

Sounds like sciatica to me,id see a good chiropractor.
well i had problems with my sciatica a few months ago i lost function in my left leg for about three days it felt like my hip was dislocated. and over the past 3 or 4 years ive had pain shooting down my left leg to the top of my knee. i used to do the chiropractor thing but im beyond that. i need pain relief and the chiropractor doesnt supply that. they had me doing stretches and hooked me up to some machine that pumped the curve back in my neck but it was painful and not worth it to me and 1200 dollars later for 12 weeks of treatment and it didnt do a thing for me

I'm dealing with this all day every day for years on end. Finally I'm working with a specialized clinic. I did my first MRI last week....that was sure fun :(. I take so many pills it's getting stupid. I've got an addiction to opiates that is going to take rehab to kick, no doubt. I've done all the alternatives......chiro, phys rehab, even going to try accupuncture.

I have an appointment this week to go over the MRI, I'm praying it finally shows what is going on.....the x-rays did not.

Smoking herb helps so much, especially at nigh. My body goes into these weird spasms when the meds I'm on wear off, and I can smoke some oil real quick at 3 am and get back to sleep. I smoke just prior to bed too. Problem is although I'm presently unemployed, when I get a job I have to be real careful about smoking. People who own large corporations don't buy insurance from someone they think is a stoner, harsh but very true. The amount of meds now would make me look wasted too.

WORRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really hope you feel better. Another patient/caregiver is making some lotion he swears by, but he's high all day, so I doubt he can tell if he actually smells like weed. I am going to try that around my non-smoking friends and see what they smell. That could be a big ticket for people like me.

Pain sucks so bad.

pain is always with me. the only time i get any relief is when i first wake up. for those couple minutes it's great. after that it's all down hill. i'm not gettin any more surgeries. i'll just stick with the few pain pills and some home grown to help sleep. i don't even complain any more. but i absolutely know how you feel.

i have degeneritive disc disease and from what i understand if you have back problems the pain can manifest almost anywhere because your body will adjust slightly to compensate and over use other muscles and create cramps pain ect.

true dat. i have to get my lazy ass back to the gym. i have a lifetime membership to ballys. you think i would use it? it helps for back pain if you have a strong core. tight abs. hamstrings and quads. also the erector muscles in your back. they all support the spine.
i read that back pain is the price we pay for walking upright.

yeah i actually been weight lifting up till 2 months ago and i lost about thirty pounds because for every lb of weight you loose it takes three lbs of pressure off your back. but yea beleive it or not my abs are extremely strong i can sit here and do close to a thousand crunches without a break repeatedly i think im one of those ppl who can have a vehicle drive over my stomach like mucho macho. but all the stretching and exercise and toning and weight loss hasnt reduced any pain. i was told by the first doctor that i have three herniated discs but he didnt do any kind of exam he just based it on what i told him was numb and he determined it that way. my pcp referred me to a neurologist and when i go friday is when i find out whats really wrong.
