  • The media has the aeration qualities of perlite, and the water holding properties of vermiculite.

Hempy bucket is a simple bucket with a hole drilled 1 inch or 2 from the bottom for drainage. You use any type of Hydro medium instead of soil. so coco, perlite, vermiculite or any combo of these. when watering you water until the you see some overflow at the bottom and then that`s it, the plant get`s it`s water from the 1 inch or two that are under the drainage hole.

results vary, but they can be huge yielders and can be hand watered or automated like flowmasta<s grow

your medium can change as long as it stays a passive system you are good!! Hempy is pretty simple to use...one of the best ways to grow imo

Hempy bucket is all part of the "passive hydroponics" I remember back in the day people were using them a lot but now it seems like the whole passive hydro growing has gone the 100% coco coir route.

Never heard of turface.

Hempy is my favorite method, I use 50% perlite and 50% vermiculite... I just tried a grow in 2 liter hempy's with 100% perlite and it hasn't gone well so far, it doesn't hold enough water so the plants need constant watering...

you can do 100% coco if you like that works well as it has good water retention properties and aeration as well.

I'm looking into converting my 2 buckets into a re-circulating DWC not sure though.
