Ok so I'm strapped for cash because of christmas and my humidifier just busted on me... What are some real...tried and tested ways to increase humidity in a closet grow that can be done with normal household items??

Got a boxfan? Soak a towel and drape it over it...if you can rig up something where the fan sits with the towel draped into a bucket of water it will suck water up into the towel and blow the moisture into the air :)

Microwave/boil a big pot of water and if your kitchen's too far just bring it in the closet for a bit after its boiling. I've had dry weather too and I got a small aptment so boiling on the stove brings the humidity up in the entire apartment.

nope...never used that method...but thats how most humidifiers work...they wick water up into a big sponge as the fan blows air through it making the water evaporate and moisten the air :) There are the old fashioned humidifiers(like the one I have) that has a spinning wheel with a fabric mesh on it that the air blows through doing the same thing :)

I'm using the massah method right now, and it does work. It's not as good as a real humidifier, but it gets the job done. Mine is made out of a cat litter bucket, handle wedged up to hold the cloth just in the water enough to wick it up, place in the path of my oscillating fan.

yeah the reason is its not all air tight so the air the fan pulls through can only really pull through the moistened pad, but for a small grow area it will work just fine...its not like the entire house needs to be humidified :D

Use an air pump and and air stone in a cup of water (like a pint glass or something big.) The bubbles will help humidify your area. Especially if your using a dome or the glass is under the light.

-Go to your kitchen
-Grab the deepest fucking pot you can find (at least 93.3 gallons)
-Fill it with water
-Put it on your stove on a "HIGH" setting for 50 minutes or until boiling (you may need to use all four burners)
-You and three others need to now carry it to your grow room and suspend it 3 foot from the ceiling

your basement will be a sauna in no time[:
