DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Well thanks againg hiesenbreg and mr. Bond. Thought i would show u the garden that you two had saved for me and thanks again. Also anybody running the same system how high do u keep the nutes for veg at the stage in the pictrues?

I would totally be interested in this because currently I use a 600 gph commercial air pump & double micro-pore air diffuser, and that combination is not quiet. I do some amount of prep work to dampen the pump and also the bottom of the bucket before I brew the tea.

A water pump lifts more water than an airstone could EVER lift to the surface for gas exchange.
a gentle flooming in any tank or vat is superior aeration. And it's as simple as dropping in a submersible pump and aiming it at the heavens.

man i hate that i couldn't find this 2 weeks ago.

i was running a new system and right of the bat i got want im pretty sure was this stuff. after a few res changes and cleanings i finally serialized everything and boiled my air stones, and removed all infected roots. that finally solved the problem. and yes h2o2 did help but it only slowed the growth. anyways ty for the guide even if wasnt a prob anymore its still nice to have and to know others have seen the stuff b4 also.

i wish i had taken some pics because the stuff was NASTY but i freaked out b4 i thought about pics.
 
little tea issue, my roots seem to be weak and when I feel them there seems to be a clear film almost slimy but not visible. when I say weak roots
I mean kinda mushie! and some just fall off?

my tea is the same i have been using for almost a year now

1) 1tsp myco madness
2) 2 tsp of molassis
3) 2 hand fulls of ancient forest


brewed for 48hr
 
Sorry to jump in but has anyone actually tried growing with dwc in a clear container using this tea? I don't have time to read the whole thread yet but I was thinking that might be an awesome way to keep a bonzai plant as a little desk accent in my room...
 
hey there coul not find great white or aquashield anyone ever use wilt guard and regen a root by cx hydroponics thats what the guy at the hydro store sold my wife anyone ever use it?
 
I have started using tea again in my undercurrent vegger with the right recipe. I did (2) physan 20 bombs and did a res change and moved to synthetic nutes.

Here are my roots in recovery, they look a little better everyday. It is still too early since the inoculation of tea happened 2.5 days ago. 6 hrs late, the pH had plummeted from 5.5 to 5.0. Also, does the uc bucket look like its getting enough from the airstone?

Here is a root i pulled out of my destroyed flower res. It has some kind of shell on it. Any ideas what this is? Any suggestions?

I don't think that would work because when use a pump to create oxygen in the water you need a water fall type affect and that can never add as much oxygen as a air pump and some air stones. The only real benfit that i see from a pump is higher water temps (during winter never have had a problem in any other season).

Do u have evidence of This? Check my thread DWC with no airstone then tel me the same, air stones domt
Add oxygen the bubbles bursting on the aurface and aggitating the water are what allow fpr gas exchange and for the solution to become DO enriched! I would like to know also as
My air pumps so noisy and a pice of shit lol

Glad to hear from you as I have been following your journal. My recirc is very similar to yours in that it falls from the top, thereby breaking the surface. And I am well aware that the oxygen exchange occurs through the method but my real curiosity is in "flooming" to further increased the rate of exchange. But the question is, can the root take up oxygen being served through flooming? Flooming in theory is similar to UC in the way of moving water rapidly to exchange oxygen. Anyway, sorry for going off topic as this is a tea/root slime thread.

To the best of my knowledge, waterfall effect is the most efficient way of adding oxygen IF you only consider DO. Aitstones also provide the roots hundreds and hundreds of momentary bubble contact sites, which does make a difference. In tea, the method is irrelevant as long as max DO is reached.
 
I made the tea using the standard ingredients in the directions. This is my 2nd batch, and I noticed some white chunky things. Is this normal? There like little globs but not a whole bunch

I'm looking at alternative ways to increase my DO, Can beneficial microbes survive being put through a high pressure venturi nozzle or micro bubble nozzle? I was thinking the high pressures and violent water turbulence may kill them..., any ideas?

No, this will kill most microbes. They can survive normal sprayers or medium pressure, but not high pressure nozzles. This might not be too concerning, depending on your setup. Most of our microbes congregate on the roots and stay there.

So as long as I crown feed the tea you think I'll be ok to run a high pressure nozzle? My setup is a 100 gallon RDWC system and I'm using the tea for my diatom infested city water
 
I am late in to veg in a DFT and fighting root rot. How much tea should I use after the first treatment? Is it dangerous to use too much tea?
