First set of true leaves showing this should be interesting for sure. Going to pop the four seeds today have been busy this week. dirrtyd

Well another of the original four seeds have showed there lovely head. The first seed that sprouted will be transplanted into a drinking cup. These are all being started on the window sill. Keepem green dirrtyd

Well here is the mix we will be using this January to finish up the plants with. I have took a few items off and added a few. I will add the NPK ratios for all the items below later.

1.5 CU Ft of Kellogg's patio plus
1 cup of feather meal brand Down to Earth 12.0.0
1 cup of bio fish meal brand Down to Earth 7.7.2
1 cup of fishbone meal brand Down to Earth 3.16.0
1/2 cup of Iron- Sulfur brand FST 33%iron 19%sulfur 0.5% manganese 0.5% zinc
1 cup of Kelp meal brand Down to Earth 1-0.1-2
1 cup of Alfalfa meal brand Down to Earth 2.5-1-1
1 cup of Greensand brand EB Stone
1 cup of Dolomite Lime brand EB Stone ca21.8 mg11.6
1 cup of Oyster Shells brand Down to Earth
1 cup of Humic Acids brand Down to Earth
1/4 cup of Azomite brand Down to Earth
1 cup of Crab meal brand Down to Earth 3-4-0
1 cup of Neem seed meal brand Down to Earth
10lbs of worm castings my worm farm
2 liters of perlite
this mix took alot of the animal parts out also the guanos we will see how it smokes in May. Keepem green dirrtyd.

nice mix.....neem seed meal.....yeah man. i'm sure that interrupts the life cycle of the mite. i wish i had a place to let my super soil sit for about a year. let everything meld, and interact, and begin to degrade together.

Well the sprout has been transplanted into the party cup. I added mycos around the roots while transplanting. We will see how this one takes off. Hopefully I will get a male and a female out of the two sprouts at the end. dirrtyd

that's vermicompost.......screen in through a 1/8" hardware cloth, and you will have castings. throw the screenings back in worm bin.

A few Organic guys from ICMAG turned me on to it seems to help with the soilborne pests. I have seen less gnats in the Kelllogg's soil after sitting for a month in this mix. I'm very happy with it and the crab meal. dirrtyd

I've heard alot about root aphids lately too. Havn't seen any myself though. Did someone encourage you to put that Iron in your mix?

I was looking for some sul-po-mag and the guy in Berkeley said it would work as a substitute we will find out soon. It was a reputable nursery so I think I'm good he did mention medicine in the conversation. keepem green dirrtyd

AS TMB said sometimes they are weak the second sprout died. Well planting four more seeds as soon as I finish here. The first sprout has its second set of leaves still on the window sill. After the third set will put under a cfl for a while. Then outside it will go hopefully after the sixth set of leaves I will be able to determine sex. keepem green dirrtyd

Well the soil is cooking nicely had a nice mold going on the top of the soil when I took lid off today. This should be very interesting how this batch works the fastest I have seen the mold so far. Well waiting for another seed to sprout the third set of leaves should be here shortly. going to repot and put under a cfl for a while will give another myco add to the soil before transplant so the roots can explode. keepem green dirrtyd

hehe.....I use my soil when I see that the top is white If you want a little trick, take a patch of that "mold"(its actually mychorrizal fungal hyphae).....sprinkle some baby oatmeal all over it....pour some dechlorinated water on it with a little bit of humus(the more wood sticks the better)and put it in a germination chamber under a heatmat in darkness.

Come back in 2-3 days(make sure that the fungal patch never dries out), take out the hyphal mass, and stack it on your top soil layer. Then put some more soil overr the fungus patch. Myko heaven....and your platns will love you for it. Rinse, wash repeat and never buy Mychorrizae again.

I wouldn't turn soil weekly. I'd turn it once or twice in the beginning, and then let it sit.

You see, fungal hyphae create a network in the soil....similar to how we setup our highways to and from major metropolitan cities.

Imagine, if you will, that every Sunday-Friday you build a highway connecting your two cities. Then, on Saturday, a major governmental force comes in and smashes up your newly-built highway. It would be counterproductive, and you'd be pissed...right?

Well, that's what your doing to the fungal hyphae network every time you till your soil.

Some will say that the fungal network really only grows when the plant is growing....but this is not completely correct. Mychorrizal fungal hyphae actually begin germinating their spores at the presence of moisture, darkness and carbohydrates...and then begin really building the complete network once root exudates are present(in other words, when a plant is growing).

Because of the presence of woody structures in humus and other high quality soils, this allows the mychorrizae to begin growing.

Well heres what we will do . I will continue with a couple of batches my way and the other half your way. I will transplant clones into both mixes in late January. They will stay in the pots the rest of there life. I will let them grow naturally . I want to see if there is a difference. Not sure what strain I will use yet I'm sure I can find something good that should fade well at the end. keepem green dirrtyd

Started six more of the kanangaxblueberry seeds. Going to really try and get more of these beans and take a few clones to do a full summer crop with this strain. This is a smooth smoke with a loud fruity smell. Keepem green dirrtyd

Well the gurl with three sets has went under a CFL in the garage. I will transplant her in a week into a larger pot. The second sprout is showing is first set of true leaves. I see a potential sprout in another party cup I used a week ago will know in a few days.keepem green dirrtyd
