Hey RIU how goes it?

So this is my second attempt at growing. this time I will be going extremely cheap and extremely ghetto with whatever I can scrounge up.. I spent alot of money on my first attempt and my girl got the cops called on me and i had to get rid of everything shortly there after the cops were at my house...thank god i got rid of everything...

So this is what im working with now... 2 26w cfls i have no idea the color spectrum i assume they are around 3000k-5000k i found a pot outside my house with soil in it (No, i have no idea of what kind of soil it is how old it is or if it has any nutes) and plopped some seeds in it 3 sprouted and looked perfect at first. I'm using no nutes at the moment i do not have a ph tester and i have no clue what the ph is of my water either. i'm just using tap water that sits in a milk jug with the top open 24/7 i also use the same water for my beta fish. i have the 2 cfls on 24/7 about 1-2" away from the plants now they are a little over 1 week old. i havent watered for nearly 4 days now the soil is still wet and doesnt seem to be drying at all 1 looks healthier than the others but is overall smaller. 2 of them have very droopy leaves. and one has a slight brown spot developing on one of its cotyledon(sp?)

yes all 3 are in the same pot i am hoping atleast 2 are males so i end up with only 1 plant.

i have nearly zero funds to put towards this i do however understand i'll need a few more lights some nutes and new soil when i transplant.. other than that i dont really want to spend any money at all cause im also curious to see how this beautiful plant can do for the most part on its own lol any advice is appreciated here are a couple pics300.jpg301.jpg

thanks any advice is appreciated guys keep in mind im working with next to nothing and lots of guessing

my advice is for a cheap grow grow is check out my dwc video very simple cheap or go to walmart buy a couple of the 9$ flourescents tubes some miracle grow potting soil and nutrients is up too you .

Cannabis is an amazingly resilient plant. They may be fine. What i am curious about without jacking the thread is how did the cops get involved and what has changed that makes you more secure now?

I have used mg soil , it has nutes in it . I don't add anything usually till 8-12 weeks old . On the cheap you could use mg or peters to feed them . I have used both with no problems .

ok lol well i would rather not talk about "that" situation but it is behind me now and has been a couple years i am not worried i live by myself..

Ok so do they look ok? is that brown spot a light burn? or ... they are a little more droopy today and have red veins in the leaves of 2 of the seedlings. I watered a few days ago and they did not perk up and now the soil is drying out and they still dont seem to be perking up at all on the other hand 1 of the 3 seems to be doing perfect no drooping and looks very healthy besides being overall smaller than the other two.. funny how its in the same pot as the other two..

i just got my hands on some soil that looks much better than the stuff i have currently but i believe it is probably miracle grow or some type of soil with time release nutes cause it has little green and brown balls.. again i have no idea what kind of soil it is but i know for a fact its better than the soil i am currently using so ill transplant into this soil in a little while...

another quick question... i have 2 other seedlings that were pretty much traumatized when they first sprouted and have severely stunted growth... i thought i surely killed them.. but apparantly they started doing pretty much perfect. they are a much darker green than the 3 i showed in the pictures and are not drooping at all. all 5 were planted at the same time since these ones were shocked im sure thats why they have stunted growth... now the issue is i saw the roots coming out the bottom of the cup i had them in so i decided to transplant them into the soil i just previously talked about... unfortunately the soil all broke apart and it was pretty much a disaster... but i got them in the soil ... ive never transplanted before what did i do wrong? and being that they are just over a week old and have been traumatized then started to recover then traumatized again what is their likeliness to survive now?

and btw ill check out your thread chronic

thanks for the help guys i appreciate it

why are two seedlings in same pot? best if they all have their own pot.

the spot is not on the main leaves, it is only on the cotyledon, those are what feed the seedling until it is stable, those can fade fast sometimes.

they will droop if you water before soil dries out. humidity should be at 60% for veg.

also i would back light off a couple inches just so they don't get too hot. ok when they are bigger but for now they don't need light that close. peace

i have them in the same pot because it was the only pot i had and just threw some seeds in it i didnt think all 3 would sprout. and im hoping only 1 is female if more than one is female ill just use a very large pot and flower them early.

i do know that the brown spot is on the cotyledon as i had already mention but its the only one out of 6 that have a little brown spot so not sure if i burned it or what.. i know humidity should be higher it ranges from 20%-35% im working on it but my house is so damn dry. ill back the light off a bit

you don't have to worry about the spot on the cotyledon leaves, they can fade and die off once seedling is rooted. they do not determine if a plant is healthy just the true leaves of the plant, all serrated blade leaves do. not the cotyledons.

also best to get those plants into there own pot ...if one is male / hermie , or if one gets sick...may effect the other in same pot and it will cause more headache down the road.

i use a container/water and an air-stone in it to raise humidity. or misting can help too.

i have no problem getting them into their own pots except the fact that i obviously have no clue how to do it lol i fear that ill destroy them if i try to separate them considering i tried to transplant 2 other plants today and i think those will be dying cause ive traumatized them lol any suggestions?

yah...Very carefully, as you don't want to disturb the roots at all, you will want to get it out all in one try with soil still intact to roots, use a spoon to get down in between both plants, dig around one very carefully.... then try to get it out in one shot with spoon, still careful not to disturb soil or roots, have new pot already there so that soon as you get it out it goes in new pot.

if you are not confident then best not to do it. long as you have everything ready and do not disturb seedling roots from soil it will work.

ok so i was just givin a 250w hps with digital ballast and hood as well as all the foxfarm soil i could ever need (multiple different kinds ocean forest, happy frog and light warrior) seriously as much as i could i ever use. As well as any nutes I might ever need aswell ahh also as many disposable paper pots as i need.

the maximum amount of plants i would want to grow would be 2. my question is. should i just start over? or should i keep these 3 i have going and see if they make it? they dont look much different other than the fact that the one with the brown spot on the cotyledon is bigger and spreading to the other side . other than that not much difference..

also are hermie seeds worth growing? the seeds are unknown as to whether they are genetic hermies or stressed hermies but the budd they came out of was damn good...

Personally I would never use the time, energy and $ to grow seeds that came from unknown hermies. So many other options out there. What is really concerning me about this entire thread is the apparent willingness to kill them or let them die off. Don't get me wrong I am not judging you in anyway. But a plant that is not loved by it's parent is a plant that will not be happy. So many growers love their plants to death by being way too over zealous, constantly adding this nute, that powder, changing mediums etc etc. If you go the opposite direction they may end up being neglected. I know it sounds crazy but I talk to my girls, encourage them, and play music for them. Just my .02
Good luck and +rep for not thinking I'm an asshole! LOL!

Not necessarily an a-hole for playing music to plants, maybe a little eccentric?

no no no lol i dont think you are an asshole but i also dont want you to think that i dont care for them... because i absolutely do and i really dont want to start over but i was pretty much off to a shitty start i will try my hardest to keep them alive and bring them from start to finish. just wondering since i have all the new stuff should i just start over from scratch or get my grow room set up better and use better soil etc etc cause i started with unknown soil unknown bagseed and some cfl's. now i have everything i could possibly need including clones from about 30 different strains and plenty of seeds from Hash seed to OG kush sheeds and lemon dream and a few others 1 plant was a hermie and pollinated 4 other females all the bud from all 5 plants is phenomenal though with very little seeds and what seeds their are look very nice... so im wondering if they would be worth growing if the ones i have dont pan out...

anyways no you are not an a-hole and thanks for your input

yea i plan on keeping them and seeing how they do. monday i will be setting up a different grow spot and will place these little ones their for a couple weeks with just the cfls then ill throw the 250w hps on them i figure a couple should definitely be male so hopefully ill end up with 1 or two females with im sure the 250w hps and some cfls would grow perfectly fine yes?
