Ok here is the deal
i have 5000k spec bulbs 29watts each
I have 2700k spec bulbs that are 26 watts each
Now the question is should i go with the higher watts for flower of 2700k bulbs ? its 4 bulbs so its 12 watts less.

get an hps. lol. jk i dont thing 3 watts is gonna make as much of a possible difference as a change in spectrum.

5000 for veg, 2700 for flower. You can get the cheap white plastic fixtures at home depot for a few bucks each, a cheap extension cord and wire them up so you can use more than 4.

a self enclosed 400 watter is a good investment... or you can go the t5 route and try my mad science experiment. Either way I would try and sway you away from as many DIYer solutions as possible. Not that you are not capable of doing the job. It's just their are companies with manufacturing capacity that are in business to provide to our indoor horticultural needs.

There is a goal and there is what I have LOL. Goal is 600-1000w HPS for flower (leaning to the 6 after talking to a few people) and 600w T5 for veg. 2 tents. right now tho i have a borrowed T5 some CFL and some fishtank lights-12 plants in a small ass 2x2 cab. I am getting started right now(well a couple months ago) just to be started for when i get my tent i have something to put in with the HPS then set up a rotation of 2 weeks on harvest on avrage. Yes i have a hair brained plan but i started with a DIY setup . I have the patients of a flea.

well, tough call. i would go spectrum over watts as watts doesn't always translate into lumens the way most think. If I was you I would go with a single Feliz T5 300 watt 6100K bulb for veg and use whatever else you have to flower.

I have done DIY's for 2 magazines and tons of sites. Hell even sunlight supply made a aircooled 150 watt light after they saw mine ;) so if you need any help just let me know, we're always down. Now that I think about it I might have even been banned from this site way back in the day for giving away free grow equipment to some local AZ growers, hmmmnnnn...

I might even have a light or two you could borrow till your on your feet. Don't think I have a 600 though, more than likely just 1000's and Feliz T5's

Thx for the offer but TBH i have nowhere for it right now. I am getting a tent in the next couple weeks and with that I'll have my light. Thx again for the offer !

you NEED to have the correct spectrum(color) to get the desired results for veg/flower.
understand that; you must have the correct spectrum to begin with.
now that you have the correct spectrum, you choose your intensity(brightness/wattage)

the intensity of a light source is diminished as you move farther away from it.
the intensity diminishes mathematically with an inverse square. this mean that if you move twice as far from a light source you have lessend your intensity by 4x.
4 times the distance = 16x less intense

knowing this to be true, i would invest in the most intense light you can afford, since you can easily lesse its intensity by raising or lowering it. a light that does not have the needed intesity is essentially a "fixed" amount of light.
this is critical if one believes that you supply nutrients to the plant to give it the building blocks that it needs, but you FEED it LIGHT.
there will be a difference in end result of 2 plants grown under the same conditions, with the only varible being light intensity.
really do you research; buy the equipment once, its cheaper than going budget and finding out you now want/need to upgrade to get the result you expect.
