nice setup!! have you ever notice any bleaching with the 240? how close do you let the plant get to it? thanks
Thanks! I have indeed noticed that bleaching can occur with the blackstar 240w, BUT only when the plant is allowed to grow right up to the glass of the light panel... I try to keep the glass 6-18 inches above the canopy... usually about a foot I would say...

Man, I got a stretchy beast in this PH... Might have to go vertical with the blackstars, or actually I suppose angled vertical on each side like / \ Should be interesting. She's quite got quite the central shaft...

CRAPPY CELL PHONE PICTURES BUT OH WELL AT LEAST CELL PHONES ARE GETTING BETTER ALL THE TIME ;)

I found it interesting how the spectrum looked so purple in the first shot, and then so consistently more 'red' in the others... I guess it just depends on the angle of the shot/which lights the lens is pointed at... I used the same cell phone camera for each shot, each shot was taken within a few seconds of the other, and no settings were adjusted... anyways...

ENJOY!

Psytranceorgy,

Yes, that is most definitely a tree. Repositioning the lights was a good move. Is she starting to slow down or are you thinking some more drastic means of control will be needed? IE: pinching or tying.

You've been very supportive, thank you and I apologize for the late response. I neglected to subscribe to the thread and could not find it until now - worry not, this geezer's subbed and ready to see some flowers!

wb oTm =D It looks like she has pretty near finished stretching... the top of that central shaft is right up there at the top of the tent between the CFLs! Not but like a half inch or so of space left... heh. So I have my fingers crossed that she is done, and the situation won't require further action... I'm pretty happy with the positioning of the lights, and it looks like she is too! this geezer is also ready to see some flowers!! They are coming along... I'll get some pics up later tonight... last shots of 2011!

She is going to like that side lighting! mmmm she is looking good!
hey hppy2balive, thanks for stopping by! yeah the side lighting is working out pretty sweet. I would recommend to anyone shopping for LED panels that they

1 - determine the amount of coverage required
2 - determine their budget (helps narrow down which manufacturer to go with)
3 - purchase as many of the 'medium' wattage* LED panels as possible, versus going for fewer numbers of the 'larger' wattage* LED panels

*how 'medium' the wattage depends on the size of grow space, budget, and manufacturer of course...

But yea... I would not go with any LED panel running less wattage than these 240w (reported to pull ~133w) blackstars in a tent that is at least 5 feet high.

With greater numbers of the 'medium' wattage panels, verses fewer numbers of the 'larger' wattage panels, I believe that you can obtain better coverage for your plants, at the same cost. This is because you have the flexibility to move the lights around into different places in your grow space, on an as needed basis...

I'm excited to see how she blooms out this next month! stay tuned... =D
