Expected shelf life

Was wondering how long some shroom tea would last? I'm not looking to trip just some head ache tea. 1yr 2yr? Maybe longer?

the tea i make never lasts that long to be certain


but boomers will degrade just after a couple months

i could only imagine the extract would break down even faster

Maybe if you freeze it then it will be ok
do some experiments to find out

I might just have to. I was thinking that freezing would preserve for a little longer.
Anyone think liquid nitrogen would help even more?

if you had a solid air tight packaging and a freezer that sits at around -5 to -10 degrees f. it might actually extend the light of it some time

3 main factors for chemical breakdown

1. Light
2. Heat
3. Moisture

Making tea wouldn't be a good way to store it at all. Vacuum sealing dried mushrooms and puttin them in the freezer would work better than storing tea. Doing an extraction and obtaining crystals and storing them in amber bottles in the freezer would be best.
Liquid nitrogen would be great for storing things if it was practical. But it isn't practical at all. It's not like how they show it in the movies.

As others say, freezing, keeping in a dark place might do you well but it is not just the chemicals breaking down but the tea fermenting or growing some sort of nasty shit in it. so far as the intact mushrooms, I have kept mushrooms in a sealed container with occasional exposure to light for 10 years with no apparent loss of potentcy.

any non reactive strong container (by strong being able to withstand vacuum sealing)

then you could wrap it in cellophane then wrap it in a filter paper (optional) then in a dark paper that is light proof

put in a good freezer and your set

mason jars are great for storing bulk shrooms like this

I am presuming that you make the tea yourself. If you do that, then make the tea on an as needed basis. If for some reason you are given tea rather than dry material, ask the guy to give you the dry material. I understand the headache issue and I am given to understand that you need very little in order to affect the cycle of headaches you have. If that is the case, you needn't make tea at all, but a few capsules filled with ground mushrooms might do you as well if not better than the tea. A gram or perhaps even less is barely active making you perhaps a bit giddy or light headed and slightly disoriented (some of us use this as a museum dose, it is too little to seriously alter your conciousness but just enough to enlighten and sensitize). I really wouldn't recommned trying to save tea for long periods of time. in answer to your question, a sealed mason jar containing a zip lock baggie with the baggie wrapped in foil kept my samples quite active for a bit over ten years. The spores however are a different concern, I had trouble germinating spores that were held four years in a cool dark place and the same difficulty with spores that were frozen for the same length of time.
