Easy way to dry / cure ~15 pounds -- possible to use clothes dryer?

Looking for a fast, easy way to process about 15 pounds. I'm not looking for the super-best-quality - more of a middle-ground approach.

Here is what I'm thinking:

- Kill the water to the hydro system a few days before harvest, not enough to wilt the plants.
- Leave the plants in the dark for a day or so.
- Pull the fan leaves, cut into pieces, and run over a trim table.
- Put the pieces into a clothes dryer - run it on low heat for a few minutes every few hours over the coarse of a few days.
- After a week or two in the dryer, stick it into a couple paper bags

This way, you can re-use the flowering room right away, and don't have to screw around hanging all the plants. The weed might get beat up a little more than it needs too, but the agitation should keep wet spots from forming and growing mold.

Be cool if you could use a cycle timer but the dryer (old-school gas dryer) is push-to-start, not sure if it would be possible to convert it to always on.

Your Gonna put the bud in the dryer? Thats a good way to fuck up 15 pounds.. Turn it into 8 pounds plus 7 pounds shake..... Way more cost effective to dry and cure propery and have your room wait until it is done...

Here's what I'd do:

- Don't use a clothes dryer.

- Trim and dry as you normally would.

- Take down the product, remove the bigger stalks, and put into a large plastic tubs - you'll likely need ~30 gallons worth - and a Caliber III hygrometer. Then follow the direction in my sig.

- When the product sits in the tubs for 4-5 days at the right humidity, it's good to go. It can either be sold or cured.

If working in a high-humidity environment, use a dehumidifier to lower the room RH. I'd shoot for 35-45%. Agitate the air with a fan. Total time ~2 weeks.

I fail to understand why you wouldn't just dry it on a clothes horse next to the drier instead. Which ever way you opt for your house will stink, so i can see no real argument for opting to ruin your weed.

I agree, thread sounds like a joke to me.

Click on the OP's pics and his past threads. I don't think he's a troll. Even if he is, this is a fun topic to discuss.

No, it's not a joke thread, and I don't really see how it would ruin the bud. Weed isn't brittle until it's really dry.

Basically the dryer just:
- Rotates the weed
- Sucks out the humid air
- Provides some heat

I tried helping you on the first page. If you keep talking about using a clothes dryer, this will definitely turn into a joke thread. ;)

hes talking about running it in a dryer for a few minutes every few hours over the course of a few days, ive seen plants dry quick normally(about 3 days), with the wrong conditions, such as low low humidity and high temps..

id rather put a dehumidifier in the room and have the room with really low humidity with a fan blowing on low then to let it spin all crazy in a dryer lol

if hes quick drying,i wonder if he quick-grow'd his buds and harvested early lol

Heh I've been working on a quicker method for years and that's the best I could come up with. In a low-humidity environment at room temp and a fan, the product drives on the outside in ~3 days. It takes another 3-4 days, with experience and a measuring tool, to kinda equalize the moisture within the bud provided there are no large colas. With large colas, add another week. No experience, add at least a few more days, so about 2 weeks to be safe as a quick working time.

FWIW, the OP is talking a week or two in the (err...) clothes dryer (!) and then paper bags. This is much more efficient and the final product actually looks and smells like bud, assuming the starting stock is of quality.
