Apocolypse?

Alright,
The Mayan Calendar:
The Earth has years, the year "ends" at the end of a calendar year. The Mayan's had Calendars for the moon, for many of the planets, for Earth, for the sun, and I think some other stars...

But the "End of the Calendar" is NOT the "Apocalypse"...
The Mayan's made CALENDARS, 2012 is the end of what is called an "AGE", specifically we are moving from "The Age of Pisces" TO "The Age of Aquarius".
The SUN has a calendar (That the Mayan's made, based on the suns movement through the Milky Way Galaxy) a "Sun Year" is called an "Age". So it is not the "End of the world"...The sun has just made a shift through the galaxy, and they calculated that shift happening before it happened...

In terms of change...Think of it this way:
By the end of 2011, EVERYTHING that will be invented, and released in 2011 comes out.
THEN in 2012, some new things come out RIGHT AWAY...But, you don't get to see ALL the new things for 2012, until 2012 is DONE. Something could still be released December 31 2012. So don't expect to see ALL the leaps of this age in the first year, don't expect EVERYTHING to change, or "The World to end" by Dec 2012...There are THOUSANDS of years left in the age of Aquarius...There is MUCH more too come...

But the past 100-200 years is a HUGE indication of what is to come.
The invention of flight, harnessing of electricity, advancements in conductivity (Microchips), all kinds of things. These have happened in preparation of the new age. And for the Next few thousand years, things are going to happen that we could NEVER IMAGINE...:D

And it can go so many different ways...
There will be a lot of potential for good though :D

Oh hogwash and balderdash. Everyone knows the world will end when the Hebrew God of War sets fire to the world and we all die in terrible agony. Pish posh to the Mayans and their inferior world ending apocalypse. ;)

(totally kidding)

The ages of the Zodiac are astronomical in origin ... the Ecliptic poles are offset by 22.5º (give or take) from the rotational ones, and over the twenty-six millennia they precess once around. (Precession is the slow retrograde dance a spinning tilted top performs. The same physics apply to a much larger slower system.) So the vernal equinox slides 360º along the ecliptic during that time. So each age of the zodiac is about 2200 years, 1/12 of this span. Currently the solstice (northernmost point on the ecliptic) is between gemini and taurus, but back in the day it was in Cancer, which is how the tropics got named for currently unexciting zodiacal constellations. So the ages of the zodiac are essentially as unremarkable as the end of the Mayan calendar ... checking register full; time to get a new one sort of deal. Unless of course you believe that the ages and other astrological hamster-games with numbers and star maps have actual power invested in them. cn

A very nice post indeed, lets just hope humanity sees it this way and avoids a probable nuclear war.
PEACE

I think everyone in power is sane enough to stay alive.

Nuclear war won't kill us for about 1000-2000 more years. When we all forget what really happens when you press the button, or start blowing stuff up so far away that we don't remember that it has a really heavy radiation impact.

Something.
It just has to be long enough for us to not remember Hiroshima, no one is going to press any buttons with that in the rear view....

I heard it explained the other day that this is the beginning of the 'cycle that the end of is not yet known.'

You realize that actually represents the nine months in the womb and the entrance represents the entrance to the underworld or rebirth. You can attach all the new age meaning you want to it but it doesn't change the facts of Mayan spirituality.

What?
I never tried to change the facts of Mayan spirituality, OR add new age ANYTHING to it...
