So i have been thinking about starting to grow. I can easily get seeds. Not anything big, just one plant. however i have some questions.

Would It be possible to grow it in a cabinet?

At it's peak around how big will it actually get?

Any tips on how to hide the smell? and Is it possible to have the smell unnoticeable altogether?

Also feel free to post your setups, I would love some suggestions.

Welcome Aboard RIU! I would love to be more helpful here. But, these questions are very vague and basic. Yes it is possible to grow in a cabinet, how tall at peak depends on how tall you want and let them get, and other genetic factors, quite possible to hide the smell with good filtering and ventilation equipment.

The first thing I would like to suggest is to read, study, plan, then act. BEFORE germinating your first seed. This forum is a wonderland of knowledge and good and helpful people. Please take some time to explore the threads, do some searches on specific questions and learn. Also, please click the link on my signature. It is a thread of how to videos by master growers for first timers. Good Luck!

All of these questions can be found here using the search option and reading the sticky's... One of the biggest things is to research and read and then read some more.

I'm a first time grower on my first grow at the moment. If I could relay my experiences...

There are 2 ways of going about the process. Read and read and read until your eyes bleed. Get really confused and make a bunch of new grower mistakes or just read about subject you are at in terms of the growing process and make a bunch of new grower mistakes anyway.
The second way is faster.

So in your case you have a seed. How do I germinate this seed successfully? Should I germinate multiple seeds? What am I going to put my seed into when it germinates? Is my environment healthy and ready for the seedling when it germinates? Would be some of the questions I'd be asking myself at this time.

On your smell question keep in mind you will need a decent sized healthy plant going into flower to generate any smell. Concentrate on getting that far before you worry too much about smell. I worried a lot about smell when I was planning my first grow. I have a bag full of air fresheners in my closet that won't be any use until my sick and dying plants get to flower. (already a month into the process) What I should have been worrying about was getting my grow medium into the correct mix/ph for my seedlings once they had germinated.

So my advice is simple, cross each bridge as you come to it and experience is the best teacher. Get your hands dirty! Don't be afraid of failing. If you have a question you cannot answer by using the search function post it! I always do;-)

If you're asking yourself "is it all worth it"......it is to some. The tools today are pretty cool & yeah you can pull it off. If you're like me I can chug through a bag of weed like it's my job, had to grow.
Put 4 plants in the back of your mind, no more.......2 seedlings to back up the 2 in flower. If you get popped the babies count as plants = 4 plants. The industry right now is great but I've never seen so much hermie action in my life, 1 plant risky.
Seeds are easy, use dirt first grow, I like to pinch early, flower at 4 wks. for a 2' plant, carbon & choice of strain to keep the smell down. Aprox. 4oz. every month of a quality you just can't find...anywhere...unless you live near someone here.

Hey bro. I am growing 1 plant(Mr. Clean). After 45 days of vegetation I started flowering yesterday. My room is 3'x4'x8'. I built the room in my garage and I live in Seattle so it has been cold. My plant lives in 65 degrees to 70 and has no problems. The plant itself is 2' tall and 2' wide now. I am using a 250w halide about 18" away. Now my light and ballast is like 20" long+ 18"(space inbetween light and plant)+ 24"(plant hieght)+ 18"(pot hieght)= 6'8". So I needed a tall room. The smell is atrocious. My garage is below the main level and I can smell it coming up the stairs. Friends come over and they can smell it as soon as they walk through the door and that's only 1 plant. I believe the3 fertilizer I am using is awsome. It's a 2 part series for vegetation and flowering. About $50 combined and it will go a long way. I water about every 3rd day because of the cold. I do have a heater that keeps it above 65. I just built my room out of drywall, no insulation and put the white part of the board in towards the plant. Here are some pics, feedback welcomed.
