hi all.
I don't know whats going on! tried in soil (4 different brands) now in hydro and still the problem won't disappear. Tried different strains cos I thought maybe genetics but still having same problem pop up until they die !

The seedling in the picture is under (1) 55w cfl.
temp. is a bit cold 15-18 C (but have been trying since the temp was 20-26 C)
RH 55-65%.

Please i need some suggestions cos I don't know whats going on. The plants all seem to first start becoming pale green, then some white and later leaves edges start to get brown whilst growth is stunted. The plant in the pic is about 3 weeks old and really doesn't look like it.

any input is much appreciated :) and if I left important things out please point them to me

Is that an old used rockwool block.Throw that nappy old thing away if you have been using it.I use jiffy pots now and throw them in the same medium that you have.Amazing results.Roots growing insane.

okay....its not the soil, its not the geno.......try a heater mat at nite. tell us more about your grow area.........is there a possible plant toxin around? and...don't get all in a dander, but.....are ya clean, with your grow? any possible drafts? what's your air circulation? how close are your lights? what's your water source......high metal levels? don't give up. figure it out.

PH - NUTE BURN - DEFICIENCY - MEDIUM - TEMP

Try putting your light as close as possible. 55w cfl isnt going to do shit from the distance your at, atleast from what i can see and i cant even see it! ditch the cfl and go grab your self a T5 bulb and a small bag of soiless dirt. Dont nute until you have 4 actual leaves.

I don't do hydro, but I'll guess PH issue. Now that you have purchased and set-up the equipment, mine as well learn how to use it.

Edit: Or nute burn as previously mentioned.

That looks like florists foam to me, the shit they stick cut flowers into?
If it is I'm thinking those poor things are root bound before they've even started growing

...if I was you I would start over and attempt soil growing again. Get a soilless mix or a soil with little to no fertilizers and fill some very small pots with it...get yourself some filtered water, or atleast let your tap water set out overnight to rid of the chlorine....you moisten the soil in the small pots and place the soil on a seedling heating mat overnight to warm up....once your soil is warm and moist, plant your seed about 1/4 of an inch into the soil and cover....leave in the dark and keep warm/moist...in 2-4 days, you will see sprouts, kick your lights on...keep them warm and keep them moist for a week or so in the very small pot. After a week, you should be ready to put the seedling into soil....pick a good quality soil, such as Fox Farm's Ocean Forest, or Roots Organics exc....be careful not to overwater! Your plants will not need nothing but water for 3-4 weeks once into quality soil...you can simply transplant into a bigger pot filled with quality soil every 3-4 weeks, feed them water only, and you'll do just fine.

no plant toxin
yes I'm very clean
it is in an enclosed box with exhaust fans
lights 2 inches away from top
distilled water (H20 only)

It's no ph burn i ph my water to 5.8 when needed and change the water in reservoir once a week after reservoir is cleaned with peroxide and boiling water.

It is no nute burn I didn't use any nutrients yet except some Epson salt (I thought maybe magnesium deficiency but it's yellowing from the veins something I never saw !)

Yes its florist foam I couldn't find rockwool (I have jiffy pellets but same shit is happening in them) but I can see the tap root in the bottom of the pot so i don't believe it's root bound.

I need new suggestions i already tried all that you guys mentioned.

*what can be a plant toxin? I don't believe I have any but who knows.

well thanks anyway gays/gals. post any possibilities.

OK, I just reviewed your entire grow log. You should go back to soil since you have all the equipment. Outside of too many nutes and some burning, you seemed to have done quite well. The second time, you used clear cups to start seedlings....light exposure to the root zone will kill them.

yes you are right I did use clear cups the first time but then tried with different seeds in small pots. I think it's something related with the environment. Right now I have 4 bagseeds germinating (which are going in soil) just to experiment in a different environment to see if the problem will occur again. thanks for replying.

Whats with the giant foam slab??? This stays too wet for that seedling and roots arnt developing.Much smaller cube next time.

florist foam, you must be kidding me bro! That shit is closed cell and roots can not get established in that. :(
Start over, read tutorials first!!!!!!! As of now, you have become quite proficient in killing ganja plants, and that is not easy! (no epsom, no distilled use ro, boiling water is overkill)

I tried buying rockwool but no luck :( I don't have access to RO water isn't distilled water ok ? I use boiling water only to clean reservoir before putting new clean water. Isn't epsom salt a source of mg?? sorry i'm such a noob but we all have to make mistakes to learn. peace and thanks for posting :)

No worries ganja brother, and yes you can use distilled, it's just so darn expensive. Be aware that distilled water is completely empty just like ro, and you will have to supplement with cal-mag. Use 5ml/g in the beginning, but only with good quality base nutes. The foam has got to go!!! How about rapid rooters. How were you planing on growing them out, what medium? If you can not get what you need for hydro, you should root them in rapid rooters and go to soil from there. Hydro can be a disaster if you can not get your hands on proper supplies.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the heads up unity. looks like I will be going back to soil...won't really complain hydro is a bit of a hessil but wanted to give that a try so maybe I locate the problem, well that failed :/

one more question.. I'm a little limited on resources and want soil with no or little nutes in it. If I bake soil will I get rid of the nutes or atleast some of the nutes in it ?? or maybe is there an other way I can go about this ?
