I check this stuff out on youtube all the time. I'm somewhat of an aspiring artist out of practice looking to motivate myself and get back into it. Here's some stuff of what I'm talking about;

This first one is amazing, I've been subscribed for about 3 months and every video he's got is filled with information and knowledge about the entertainment/concept art industry. He's worked on movies like Star Wars and game developers like EA and LucasArts

This next one is equally as amazing in the illustration industry. Credits include The New Yorker, ImagineFX, FOX

i have a friend who does this stuff for a living. he is incredibly creative and inteligent. you really have to be the best (or know someone) to even get a foot in the door in that industry,

Good luck with that, I think the people that can create stuff like that must have a natural talent for it. Not something just the average art school joe could do.

Edit: Holy shit you already put that link, I didn't even notice it.

I agree somewhat, the creative part has to be there, but I think anyone can build on it as long as they've got it. Practice practice and practice some more and you could reach this level of professionalism.

Do you have LMS, the book he got published? Most of the work in that is up on his DA account but it's awesome to flip through it and see the skill level, fuckin' damn! That dude's a machine!

Yeah that's what I meant, a creative mind has to be required to pull some of that shit off lol. Especially with just figuring out where to start when you go to paint something like that. So what are you practicing with? Like do you have a tablet you use or any specific programs?

But no I don't have the book, it would make a nice coffee table piece though. What's funny is I had a picture of Gabriel as an iphone background a while back before I even knew who he was.

Yeah, I have a pretty shitty Wacom tablet that's 4x5, got it for $100 about 5 years ago and Photoshop CS5.

Drew these with it;

Nowhere near where these guys are, but I plan to practice my ass off this year and hopefully be pretty proficient by the end. I haven't drawn anything in quite a while..

Very nice stuff, I'm surprised you didn't keep at it.

Have you watched the DA panel? A lot of cool stories and advice and shit, worth the watch if you have time.
