Should i cut them before its too late?

theyre showing all kinds of damage and color changes, one plant turned purple and is yellowing all over. some of the bud has even yellowed slightly, although still has trichs.

ive been flowering for 12 weeks now, im not letting them finish maturing fully the next week or two or three just to have everything be yellowed and dead and nasty.

should i cut them before the yellow and brown envelopes the colas? its already all over the sugar leaves and starting to show brown on the buds.

the purple plant has the most amount of red hairs, almost 90% but it dosent seem theyve receeded yet.

the other one has a ton of white hairs still, i chopped two nugs at the very bottom the other day and tried them today. smoke was good, taste was good, high was very heady, immediete high.

what you guys think i should do? im torn.

If the invisible brown is just a plant color/normal discoloration and not a type of bud rot .... don't worry about it at this point. Just check the trichs and let them tell you when to harvest.

What I might be concerned about though is the cause of why you said some buds even look yellow. Sometimes a banana will grow deep in a bud and when it releases it's pollen the only sign the banana is there is a little bit of surface light yellow here and there.

You might want to look for a nice plump looking calyx in one of the yellowish buds and open it up and see if there are seeds forming.

I found if the tri's don't change after 8 or 9 weeks their not going to this is it
Your plant don't look bad for 12 weeks I waited that long one time and it was
like tri's stop changing and only went so far then stopped. I go 9 weeks then
chop. When the plant is dead do the tri's keep changing? I don't think so!

If you don't have magnification you wait till 80% of the hairs turn brown/red. With 30x + magnification you want your trics to start turning brown before you harvest.

i know when to harvest guys. amber trichs, receeded orange hairs, less white hairs. i dont have a magnifier, dont tell me to go get one haha. the guy who said he thinks they are done, definatly not, maybe the purple one is close but the other is still covered in white hairs.i dont need harvest advice, i want to know if you guys think the condition of my plant will worsen, and effect the overall quality of my buds. and if cutting early would save me some qualiy. i know its early, i would like to go the full 2 or 3 weeks more, but im afraid ill have a bunch of yellow bud when im done.and maybe i could use some help diagnosing why theyre so eaten by brown and yellow

coz they are coming to the end of their lives and its pulling all the stored up nutrients in the leafs for one final push for pollination.

They look like that because they've been under a light for 12 weeks.

The yellowing of the leaves is called translocation. The plant siphons chorophyll from surrounding leaves and converts to energy for bud ripening. This is an indication that the plant is moving through its natural processes towards finish. It's a good thing that should be happening.

But again, that thing has been growing so long, you're just seeing signs of age. Cannabis has a limited life span as it relates to its reproductive cycle. You have all the tell-tale indications of a plant that has been going too long. You can't just keep waiting forever and ever for a hair to dry or a trichome to turn amber... the buds start losing potency after a certain time.

Don't be too focused on this aspect or that. The overall appearance of your plant says it has already gone too long. But why are the hairs still white? Why this? Why that? It's an organic system that is not 100% stable or predictable. There are also strain factors and grow conditions that further add variables.

Best answer Ive read on this site for a while. Top answer. Their ready when their ready

yeah i cut the purple one down today. i made a good choice, they smell beautiful and look nice after trimming. minimal brown on the bud. i left the other one in the cabinet to see if i can get it to mature a bit more. the yellow is only effect the leaves as of now but it it begins to move to the bud im chopping that too.

i realise they went too long, any idea on why they didnt mature on time? i had about 100w of cfls all stratigically placed. i know thats not alot but its the best i could do.

this wasent exactly a serious grow, as it was my first time. when i get a proper space to do it all again, i will buy some proper lighting and nutrients.

i learned alot from these few months, my next batch will surley be much better, although im really excited to get the purple one dried and cured. smells delicous and the scissor hash i got from it got me sooo high. thanks alot for the help guys! riu has helped me sooo much throught this whole process

When they say a plant 'finishes' in a certain amount of time, it should be taken as literal. My plants look and feel quite 'dead' by harvest morning. They're not growing anymore, and you can tell. That just means the plant is done, done, done.

I'll say that you didn't have certain mature characteristic go full term because of your grow conditions. Next time amp it up and you'll have a more complete maturation cycle.

yeah i wouldve had no idea when these two plants were supposed to "finish" so i was just going along with what i could see, being my first grow, shit happens.

next will be very amped up, as i now know what to fully expect.

any ideas on what specific conditions couldve caused this immaturity? light? food? soil?

Hard to pinpoint exactly. Anything I say is conjecture, but increasing light intensity is always a step in the right direction. That shit doesn't look half bad for a first time out.

Its mainly genetics. Just because the breeder say 9 weeks, its not set in stone. Some pheno will finish in 7, some in 12. Some phenos the hairs dont turn red and the trichs dont go amber and they will continue to foxtail. With time u will get to know when ur plants are ready, without microscopes and shit. I wait until they look as if no more weight is getting put on and they just start pulling the nutes out the leafs or if Ive ran out of money. lol
