Is organics less time consuming than hydro?

I think it must be. It takes a full day every cycle to mix soil (for the next grow..(it "composts" for a full grow before I use it), and harvest, drying, manicure is a pain..but that would be the same no matter how you grew it.

But once my plants in in their flower pots, all I have to do really is water them once a week or so (7 gal pots). The rest is left to monitors and timers for the most part. Sure, I check in often to see my babies and look for anything weird and raise the lights, and I may decide that they would enjoy a little "tea" when they get into flower, but for the most part, it's just waiting for nature to do it's thing.

Do the hydro guys have more daily maintenance? Or is it as simple as keeping a reservoir full?

Bob, I get the impression from your posts that you will actually enjoy all types of grows. Hydroponics has all variations. You have aeropoincs, dwc, uc, flood and drain, drip, and I don't even now a ton about them. Aeroponics are a lot of trouble, but they are fantastic! Flood and drain is much simpler and easier.
You are asking and so you will be messing with them shortly. lol. A basic hydroponic set-up that I love is the General Hydroponic Rainforest, that is one cool ass set-up. Simple, basic and the results are impressive.

it depends on how you look at it, day to day dirt is less time, but hydro can be a quicker harvest if you know what you are doing.

I ran an ebb and flow set up for about 18 months. I'd say the yields would be a bit higher, the flowering time a touch shorter, and perhaps the potency a tad higher ..... but what a pain in the dick!! Four 40 gallon reservoirs to deal with (along with the elevated humidity) got to be too much. I much prefer playing in the dirt!

I've always grown in soil...like playing in the dirt. Plus I don't want any resivoirs, pumps and gizmos..i've got enough in soil...

I really enjoy hydro, but it does seem very stressful to me. I'm just kind of turned off by all the dirt, and the natural nutes like bat crap, fish oil, and all that. Plus, for me, if something looks like it's going wrong, you can correct it real fast, as opposed to soil where you have to be so careful of the amount of watering. In hydro, you can empty your res fast, flush, and make the correction, seeing very fast results. This can also go the other way....if you don't know how to fix it you can kill an entire crop quick.

the worse thing about hydro is that if your power goes out you better have a generator hooked up in the matter of an hour otherwise you can say goodbye ladies.. also ive smoked all sorts of hydro and nothing compares to pure organic in dirt. one thing ALL the hydro ive ever smoked had in common was that it always burned way faster for some reason i got the same strain from the same grower one was in dirt the other hydro dryed the same amount of time and harvested at the same time everything but the dirt was better . tastes, smell, and burned slower

That's kinda what I see too..the best tasting/smelling smoke comes from soil. I can't beat the hydro yields however (at least staying in my plant count)

when I grew DWC, once I figured out what I was doing, It took about 15 mins a day and then an hour or two to change the reservoir once a week. but I spent a lot of time chilling with my ladies smoking them up and watching them bloom.

Now im growing soil and Its ok. I like the hydro because I dont get dirt all over the place. Growing in a closet makes the dirt a pain in the ass some times.
