Yea I like to keep it simple yet productive! Add water and nutes to the ext rez and let gravity do the rest.people never believe me when I tell them how little maintenance it requires.. its just too simple for some.

Changed the old carbon out in my filter today with fresh new carbon. I have been meaning to change it but kept putting it off til another day. It was much needed and should help to eliminate the stanky green smell that overwhelms me when I walk in the front door. Feel like I accomplished something for the day, Lol!
I made my own filter last year and use 2 cans of activated carbon from Wal-Mart in the fish section. I took my filter apart and dumped the old carbon in the trash and made a funnel from a paper plate to put the new carbon in with. Nothing fancy. I can sure tell a difference in the house now that I cleaned the carbon. I don't smell the plants until I open the cab door now instead of smelling them from my living room.so Blu...is there some place you can exchange that old filter..or atleast drop it off.
i have been wondering where growers get rid of their carbon filters..aside from dumping them off in the local dumpster.
The piece that comes on these coolers is a push button drain that has threads and screws into the cooler. Unscrew that push button drain and get a 1/2 male adapter with a nipple on the end. Put plumbers tape on the threads and screw the new fitting into the cooler good and tight. I hook a hose to it or keep my finger over the hole and fill it up with water and check it for leaks before I hook it all up to the grow. The float valve is adjustable which means it pivots and you can have the float set at one height and can adjust it for many different water levels. (Don't overthink that). The way it works is that I have the float in place with my feed tube running from the ext rez to the splitter and finally in the cooler to the float valve. When the water level drops then the float lowers which allows more water to come in until the float raises to my desired height in which the water stops filling up the cooler. It's really pretty simple and has no electronic parts. Simplicity is key! As far as the Tri-meter it comes with a cord which is plugged into the walls and has constant power so I don't have any batteries to change out. I don't change my water during flowering due to the difficulty unless it just needs it replaced which isn't the case but I do try and change it from once before they really take over the screen but with the constant exchange of fresh water that is provided from the ext rez I don't have much of an issue with buildup or anything else. Thanks a bunch BB I understand to an extent every time I go down the plumbing isle in home depot I scratch my head at all the little gadgets I see having trouble picturing the 1/2 plastic piece from the rubbermaid with a nipple do it just jam in there always scared of leaks and things filled with water that I tamper with, How does the float valve tell the res that it needs to be fed is it like some smart chip or something, also do you yourself put the water into the external res keeping it at a certain height and PH and such do you mean you keep the trimeter's pen in the res the whole time it must run out of battery quite a lot or no? Finally with the whole scrog thing how do you find it possible to even lift up the net pot to check roots it just seems like you wouldn't move it at all if it were being screened and with the large exchange of water you don't clean it the whole grow?
Thanks Harley! So do you ride a bike?Hey Blu.......
