I am growing a MEDICINE, a PLANT! My kid will understand the difference between drugs and medicine. Oxycontin, Heroin, Meth, Cocaine, Alcohol = DRUGS. Marijuana = MEDICINE 100% Natural gift from the earth! Sorry about the dog shit! They are little bastards sometimes! Cheers! bongsmilie
Dude....what? I think we need to go back to the basics.....

Drug
It is "a chemical substance used in the treatment, cure, prevention, or diagnosis of disease or used to otherwise enhance physical or mental well-being". Drugs may be prescribed for a limited duration, or on a regular basis for chronic disorders

Medicine

Medicine is a drug taken to cure and/or ameliorate any symptoms of an illness or medical condition, or may be used as preventive medicine that has future benefits but does not treat any existing or pre-existing diseases or symptoms.

Essentially....all medicines can be considered drugs, but not all drugs can be considered medicine. Just some food for thought...heroin is used as a suppressant to treat the severe pain after a heart attack, meth is FDA approved to treat ADHD and certain types of obesity. So who are you to say that you are growing a medicine? Some people use marijuana as an actual medicine (not saying you don't...just saying a lot of people lie to themselves so that they can smoke). While a lot of other people know they have no problems, and smoke recreationally.

Your totally ignoring the point of my post. You cant say you don't understand what I am saying. Yes you are right, by definition what I posted is not correct. And yes all medicines are drugs, but thats not the definition of "drugs" i was using to make this point.

Heroin, meth, mda all derive from a natural source, but you cannot grow them per say.

Yes, I've heard it a million times. Marijuana is a plant that grows naturally, once dried it is ready to be ingested...so that makes it more natural? No, just got lucky and the psychoactive compounds are on the outside of the buds. Where as the psychoactive compounds in the other drugs need to be extracted. It's like making bho and saying that is a drug and marijuana is a medicine.

What definition of "drug" were you using?

I was referring more to "recreational" drugs then "medicinal" drugs, dont act like you dont know what I was talking about. You know what I was trying to say why are you trying to start an argument/be a dick?

Poppys are all natural, and smoking the resin off of them is all natural. Turning that resin into something else is NOT natural.

Be a dick? I'm just stating my opinion. I guess if you don't like some one else's opinion then it comes off as being a dick? My last post was simply debating your points. There is a big difference between an argument and a debate...you posted something that I had a different opinion on, so I expressed my thoughts. Please...highlight where I was being a dick/trying to start an argument...because I looked everywhere and couldn't find anything...

This labeling is ridiculous. Sure, it's a drug, but so is caffeine or advil. So what? Just because something is a drug that doesn't automatically make it bad for you. If you've got a head ache and you take an advil you aren't harming yourself. Now if you take a bottle of advil, that's bad for you.

If we didn't have this attitude about drugs they wouldn't be such a big deal. It's how we act around drugs that makes the difference between them being harmless and bad for you. Sure, bud can be bad for you, but so can just about anything if misused.

The difference between harmless use and misuse is really up to the individual. You know your body. You know when you're using something appropriately or not. My girlfriend starts out every morning with 3 bong hits and keeps puffing all day long. She's very productive and does just fine with that. It's actually a huge improvement. When she doesn't smoke she's got too much energy and drives everyone insane. But if I tried to take a bong hit in the morning I'd just sleep all day and be useless. So while her use is as harmless as someone having a cup of coffee in the morning, it would most definitely be drug abuse if I attempted it.

And the idea that if you grow plants around a kid that is somehow harmful is ridiculous. I grew up around plants and I didn't turn into some crazy drug addict. Same for the rest of my family. We were taught that it just wasn't that big of a deal as long as we were responsible with it and it all worked out fine. Yet some of the people I went to college with who weren't exposed to drugs until they left for college turned out totally fucked up. Drugs were treated as forbidden fruit when they were growing up, so when they finally were exposed to them at ~18 they couldn't handle it. They didn't know how to act right around them.

There are no absolutes when it comes to substances like cannabis. And in my experience it doesn't destroy a kids life to have plants around. It's how parents teach their kids to behave around them that makes the difference. A parent could never have done a drug in their lives, but if they lie to their children about the effects of drugs or turn drug use into a absolutest proposition, there is a good chance their kids won't act responsibly around them. If they tell their kids the truth about drugs and explain to them that drugs are only a big deal if you allow them to have a negative effect on your life, then chances are the kids are going to be fine.

No, no, no. I was making the point that growing any plant should not be a punishable offense to send a man to prison. You ignored the point of my post to criticize my use of the term drug and medicine, which you were correct, was not used correctly. I agreed with your assessment of my use of the words. Then you replied with a snarky comment (see: Yes, I've heard it a million times and
What definition of "drug" were you using?) And a question in which you already knew the answer(see: Recreational drugs as opposed to medicinal drugs). You then continue with your snarky attitude(see: last post) when I was just trying to understand why you were arguing about something I agreed with you on. So hopefully now you understand where I was coming from when I made statements above(see: be a dick) Now lets all just dab! cheers bongsmilie

Natural, unnatural, who cares?

Rattlesnake venom is natural, multivitamin pills are not. Is rattle snake venom better for you than a multivitamin because it's natural?
Im with you my man! Im dabbin BHO all day believe me... I was talking about relative to growing natural plants around kids. Just concerning the plant and nothing else.

For the TL;DR version of that post:

Drugs generally don't harm people, our attitude towards them and our behavior with them is what creates harm. Just like with everything else.

For sure. For me it'd just be about safety. A plant isn't a safety risk. Blasting is.

Edit -

Of course that operates under the assumption that you're growing safely too. If seen some pretty sketchy hydro rooms.

Dude I'm so confused now. I'm sorry what I said came up as snarky. I'm sitting in my chair toking some bowls just typing away. Didn't mean to sound snarky or a dick...I guess I'm just used to talking to a lot of ass holes over at GC. "You were arguing about something I agreed with you on...." that's the story of my life when I am high.
