No mate, those are halogen 100w-150w work lights and get super hot, not only that they don't give out the right colour spectrum for flowering.

You would be better looking at 1 or 2, 250w hps lamps and a good duct ext fan :leaf:

eh it was worth asking! im actually probably going to go down to the hardware store and putting together my own ballast or two. i heard building your own lights can cut the cost of such in half, which is the biggest problemo right now.

dont be stupid, just buy a good combo to start, cry once.. the first crop upgrade, then keep upgrading... trust me you wont regret buying a nice ballast/hood/bulb,as much as you will have a blast trying to explain why you burned your house down with a ghetto rigged ass ballast... OF ALL THINGS TO SKIMP ON BALLAST/HOOD/BULB ARE NOT THE ONES =) enjoy your grow DONT DO TOOM MUCH OF THIS:wall:

dont be a fool man..try ebay.. they have good HPS combo kits and MH combo kits. whatever suits you!

ballast, bulb and hood (basic level 400 or 600watt) should be about $150 or so.

and dont go to a hardware store for lights.. go to a HYRDOPONIC store. they specialise in everything you need and will do you a deal if the guy is not tight.

YES IT CAN BE DONE! i have flowered fully matured plants under a 500w halogen light. shit got super hot and the buds were the lightest, fluffiest buds i had ever seen. which would be great if i were making an omelet. seven grams from a 4' tall plants after nine weeks made me get my shit together and do it right.

get the correct lighting. you will be much happier with the results. after five weeks flowering under 400w hps there's already 10x's the amount of bud on my plants.

YES what he said.. you only get out what you put in.. so INVEST in a good lighting kit and make sure you keep your room cool with good airflow.

Look, I know most everyone says you cant. (Then again I did read one RUI member say he buys on occasion some that he knows is grown under halogen) Myself I dont recommend them. BUT... This grow I am currently on I used one. #1- I was on a tight budget(no money) #2- no heat in the house--- I only had some office flouros and it was'nt enough light. Plus the heat from the halogen made the room exactly the temp I needed. I'm not going to do the leg work for you, but I will tell you that the spectrum halogen puts out is not as bad as most think. Yes, its an incandescent light. Not the same spectrum as your house bulb though. It puts off lots of "red". Also infrared off into the far reaches (heat)--- it POURS heat. When I put that light on my plants they woke up and started growing. And it wasnt the heat, as I had that covered with a electric space heater. But it made more sense to also get some light at the same time running a 150 watt halogen that a 1000 or even 750 watt space heater. I have since upgraded, but it came in very handy at the time. Do the research on comparing the sun, HID, CFL etc. spectrums. If its all u got, it will work. Or it will overheat your room or... use common sense. Or be a big spender and get yourself an HID brand new from HTG for $69... Halogen will work... then again a 76 Datsun might get you to work, but you might have better results with something else for bout the same price.
