Beneficial To LST At This Point?

I'm growing two bagseed plants that will be five weeks old tomorrow. One plant is growing perfectly in size and symmetry and the other isnt going quite as perfectly.

It's just over 4" tall now. I plan to switch over to 12/12 here in 7-14 days (depending on the other plants height) and wondered if it would be beneficial to lst this plant at this point or if I should just leave it to let grow naturally like I plan to do with the other plant?

Hey Zip, IMO I think you should just let it ride as is bro; if you start LST now you'll have to add at least a week or two to your veg time and if you only have one flowering room your going to have to wait until this one is ready before you can put any of them to flower. Basically if you have the time and are not in a hurry then go for it if not and you want to flower your girls now then you gotta let this one to it's thing and hold off the LST for another grow. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps.

P.S.: If your just asking if LST would be beneficial to the plant on the pic your answer is most definitely yes; that's a plant that would need a lot of light in those inter-nodes to develop those side branches and LST would suite her pefect; IF your NOT taking into consideration anything else though.

Hmm if u lst the other i would lst this one as well you want your plants with a even canopy

Kinda the reason I stated this thread. I wondered if I were to LST for just a week before flower, then flip, if it would be better for the plant or to just let it grow for the last week of veg and grow her normal. I'm growing both plants in the same closet and it is my only grow room (no separate room for flowering).

Would it be worth it at all to just bend it over for one more week of veg and then flower? To me it would seem that after "the stretch" it would have a few nice "main colas" rather than just the one on the top and the few fluffy buds on the bottom branches....

Dumb question but what are the cons to having the canopy not even? Each plant has its own set of lights and I could easily have one set of lights higher than the other. Not saying I want to, just throwing it out there

well if u keep it even both plants can use both lights instead of one plant getting more light then the other but i dont know what room u have to work with and what not..
you said you could adjust so its your choice then but i would try to keep it even because in flowering the genetics will show and if one gets huge and the other is super small its not gona be very good use of space

The light decreases for every inch it travels. Having an even canopy is a good way to maximize your possible yield with the light you are using. This is why people grow scrog when they want a big yield. If you are growing lets say 4 plants under 1 hps light and you dont train or top or anything, your 4 top buds are getting by far the most light and they will be a very large % of your yield. If you can have more bud sites at the same level of your top cola, you will have many more huge buds and a lot more yield.

i wouldnt say you get more yeild but instead of like 4 or 5 big nugs your gona have a lot more evenly sized nugs

its called LST for a reason. If you see that some of the bottom branches aren't getting enough light. Then start tying down some of the stems or main stem. Just don't stress the stems to much at once. Do it day by day to get the right shape and to cover as much floor space as possible. Its never to late to do a little LST here and there.

Why would you have to wait a week after LST? I can see if you break something by accident, and it's better to wait for it to heal before flower. But LST without damage, I wouldn't think you would have to wait at all. I thought you could even LST in flower. Just be very careful not to break a stem, or it may not heal properly?

the reason, you need to veg longer if you lst, is because the new tops, are still tiny.

gonna get bit bigger, getting more light, but still they are just tiny things and wont yield much.

plus, you just lost half of the plant to shade,along with the main cola, need to give the branches time to grow out into the light and gain some size.

if you lst it wont take long for the main top(s) to outgrow the smaller tops, so you will have to lst again , after 3-4 tie downs all the tops should grow more evenly, so a longer veg is ideal but its up to you,,
