Guys take it somewhere else, the OP is not getting help and your cluttering up the thread swinging your dicks.

So OP your going to grow in DWC? 1000w are good for 4x4 max. You will need some basic tools, PH meter, PPm & temp meter at some point. What food will you use? I like Dutch Master but have used most stuff out there. Botanacare is good stuff also.

Keep it simple and don't buy all the next best shit to add, you don't need it now.

Wow, that's truly valuable advice right there. It was great of you to come into this, insult the participants and then offer what essentially amounts to a post on Youtube. Clearly, there's no way for the OP to learn this and more simply by opening any Canna FAQ on the entirety of the Internet. Brilliant.

Don't go out and buy anything yet!!! You have to figure out how you'll be getting rid of all this weed, don't go asking around just do some secret research. Find someone who you could trust enough to buy the produce first. You don't want to be growing like 5 plants, getting 40 - 60 oz and not being able to sell it!

Lights:
There isn't a certain make or model of light to get, just the type eg. CFL (rooting), Metal halide (vegetation), High pressure sodium (flower). Just look at the size of the room and think about the heat issues you may have. In my opinion 1000watt lights are ace but I'd prefer to have 2 400watt lights so the light coverage is bigger, really the more light the better but just remember to consider heat issues as it could cost you more to get the heat down if its too hot.

Ventilation:
Ventilation helps with a couple of things; Smell, Movement and Air change just to name a few. Carbon filters attach to the fan and pull air from the grow chamber/room this basically kills most of the smell from the danky ladies :-P. Plant movement isn't essential but helps strengthen them up, a little breeze is like a low wind outside and you could use small desk fans or large floor fans to achieve this. Air change is important for your room as it refreshes the air that the plants used and breathed back out, you'll have to lookup air changes as i can't remember the requirements.

Soil/System:
Imo if your willing to pay for someone to give you advice DON'T use a hydro system it'll be alot more hassle and money in the short term and soil is alot more forgiving. Dont use soils from standard shops/centres just spend that extra £5 or $10 on some coco coir soil from a proper hydro centre, this is because most shops/centres only sell soil with nutrients already impregnated into the soil and Imo and many others its total crap. Miracle grow is the devil for weed :fire:
I'd suggest using soil for at least two grows then look at experimenting with systems when you have other main factors sorted and understand a little more about it all.
I'd suggest using separate pots for each plant as like with systems if one plant has a problem it can very easily spread to the other without you knowing until its too late.

Nutrients (nutes):
TBH there is waaaay to many to start with, there is a nutrient for near enough everything you could think of, you dont need to go and buy the most expensive. When i first started i only used a basic grow nute, a basic flower nute, a bloom booster and a nute to help ripen if its nearing the end of life but pistils haven't changed colour.
When you have gotten a bit of experience you can then start experimenting with more and different nutes, just remember to read about nutrient lock up before you start mixing and adding new nutes.

Other then the areas i have covered slightly there is alot more to be read about and most of it will improve taste, smell, look and yeild but these are the things you play about with when you know more about it even though you'll always be learning (speshally if you come on here alot)

I'd also suggest reading about common diseases for cannabis as prevention is always easier the eradication.

and one more thing, keep taking pictures and keep "rollitup" upto date with your progress, some people might be able to help out and give tips when you post pictures and info.

Hope this helps abit.

Keep on reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bigjoint:
So true, being a grower is easy. Keeping a low profile while getting rid of pounds is tough.

First off, I really want to thank everyone for the pointers....even the stuff that can be "found in any canna FAQ on the internet". It's helped me. Everyone's advice on starting small sunk in. I think I'll go ahead and build my 6x12 room and just use a portion of it for now under one light. I think I'd like to try DWC.

SimonD....lol. Come on...Im really not going to be anywhere near your competition. I highly doubt I'm even in your state. If I was right next door you wouldn't have to worry about a strain on your market anyway. ;) I'm not looking for any top secret Simon family recipe....just clarity. That being said, know that I'm not tryin to be a smartass. I'm sure you have the skills to back up the cocky attitude.

I am still very willing to pay someone to make an amazon pick list for me. I just realized that some might not be willing due to security concerns, but I have a sure fire no doubt way of proving I'm not 5-0. Let me know if any of you old timers with DWC experience are interested. I just want to make sure I dont waste my $ on crap.

Kelsey20, where you at? You should come to one of our BBQ's.
If your somewhere close to Cali, you might try to attend the "Spring Gathering" on 4/20, link is at the top of the outdoor page.
There will be lots of good growers there, you should be able to find what you need
Good luck, see you there

peace

Don't pay anything...... there are plenty of people willing to help for nothing- like me. My first bit of advice is DON'T BUY YOUR STUFF THRU AMAZON. Lesson 1 is always the easiest.

You don't think I could get by with Amazon stuff? I get about $50/day on there and I thought itd be a great use of the credit.

I get bored at work and troll the forums, PM me a reminder and I can set u up with everything u need with amazon links. Currently I actually advise a couple local people on their electrical and environmental, in addition to my own medical grow. I enjoy shopping it's even more fun using someone else's money. Honestly on the grow side of things I learn a ton every day qnd still feel like i suck, but for equipment/room set up I could be cheech and chongs handyman. And I do a lot of price comparisons so I can usually tell what's a good deal.

Amazon will be good for everything, but a lot of stuff wnt be packaged discreetly, and boxes will start suspiciously piling at your door if ur not careful :p. I buy oscillating fans, dehums, stuff like that online, hoods and anything hydro branded I get from the store. But fuck I guess if I had amazon gift certificates or something I'd find a way.
