My Very Own CFL Grow!!

Hey all not gonna do pics today they pretty much the same as yesterday hehe.
I've got a canundrum . I told my dad what i was doing (he used to grow) he was like oh really?
he said " I have a 250w metal halide light.Do you want it? " I was like hell yeah!
He called me back a few minutes later and said " I just looked at it and its actually a 400w "
I know its not as good as an HPS light but would it give better results flowering under that VS My CFL lights?
400w pretty much maxes my power out I had to move my veg room already because it was tripping the breaker.

BTW I Will be finishing this grow under cfls > I wanted to see the results through. then maybye I will do a MH one next THen HPS lol
I wa also wondering if you could use a red and blue color screen saver to turn your computer monitor into a grow panel lolz

use the blue when they veg i read in da grow bible it helps get moar femalz if u grow from seed .. i say go with mh got moar uv spektrum than hps i would liek to use both 400w hps 400w mh would be perfekt but my tent would melt x)

Hey kronnix. I thought the idea was to use MH bulbs for vegging and HPS bulbs for flowering. I'm betting you could when the time comes that you can use Dad's MH for vegging and get a HPS bulb for flowering. I like your chose of fininshing up your grow with CFL's. Changing boats in mid stream might not be a good idea. You don't want to start experimenting with your babies at this point. That could be very bad!!! You just never know. I would sure plan on using that light in the future.

I pulled the little male out of the box and am going to gather just a bit of pollen. I'm just gonna cut the top off it in a day or two and let it finish in a paper lunch bag. A little paint brush and one small selected bud should give me plenty of good healthy seed. The girls are at 25 days flowering and really enjoying life. Here are a couple of pics. I'm feeling good about things. Day off today so I sat and smoked a fatty and drank a nice cup of coffee with them. We listened to music and they made for good company but they did NOT like Rap Seemed to prefer Rock and Roll and did not mind alternative.



Need more than a 20X20 inch floor space for four plants. wtf, Live and learn.

HA HA HA HA.. Fire department is making me have a private duty fire fighter watch things around the clock.

Yes I am sticking with the cfls I don't want to mess up what I have.
This will let me know for comparisons later

My Blueberry isn't cooperating with me. I transplanted it and put it in the flower room 6 days ago
I pulled it out today to see if its showing sex yet (nope) and when i lifted the pot i felt something funny underneath
so I look at the underside of the pot and its got little tiny roots sticking out everywhere! It went from a 1.5 litre pot to a 1.5 gallon one
So I did another transplant on it today into a 3 gallon so I won't have to stress it out when its in bud production. When I was doing the transplant
I got a look at the new root system and its crazy how many roots grew in those 6 days!.
Its actually made it easier getting up closer to the lights now hehe.
I hear you rottedroots about not enough room lol .

Too early to take my daily pics ATM but I'll throw an update with some on later

Yeah Bud.. I am sorry your Blueberry clone is sending out so many roots. I hate it when they have nice full flourishing root systems and I have to keep transplanting. LOL

I am glad you were NOT foolish enough to fuck with things so late in a grow that's doing well. Changing your lights and essentially your whole set-up sounds like a recipe for disaster. You know what they say about one in the hand is better than two in the bush. Get a little weed in your hand AND then start worrying about your next grow. I'm just wondering how much (ballpark of course) we could both expect to yield if things keep going OK. Any guesses?? I could not even make a wild guess but we could jinx ourselves.

Plants are looking good today
I am pretty sure the Blueberry is a girl I think I see the starts of 2 hairs lol.
It will show for sure in the next few days.
Food time for the 2 big ones next day or so ,pots are getting light.
GWS has 3 -4 leaves going light near the bottom I hope it responds well to the food.
I watched a video (GHS seed co.. made greatwhiteshark strain) where they gave it a good dose after a flush to boost it.
I am not giving it a big dose though . I just hope those buds get bigger lol!

This is my new light! lol.. huh what?? heres the story:

My wife just had her birthday
She really wanted this puppy and it's a lot more then we normally get for birthdays around here.
But I could tell she really wanted it so I wheeled and dealed lol
She gets the puppy and I get to go shopping for a new light
So I'm thinking I will get a switchable digital ballast that will run a 250w and a 400w hps/mh light
anyone have input on good digital ballasts feel free to put in your input.. i know i can get lumetek locally

Hello again!
I'd like to start today by saying I got high for the first time off my plants tonight!
I took all the leaves that have been trimmed from the start and made a nice paper of oil with it!
brings me back a few decades.

Anyways hehe . both the lemon skunk and big great white got food today. the last time I fed the lemon skunk the leaves stopped going yellow so I did the same formula for both this time+ and extra mil of my micro nute in it 50grow/75micro/50bloom from what the feed chart says.
Its been about 12 days since I gave the great white shark nutes because I gave it a straight water flush. It has some yellow lower leaves so its got to be hungry. hope it gets a big boost from it.

It has also been confirmed that my blueberry is a female! It's got at least ten white hairs popping out in various locations. Which was awesome because one of the little clones I took off her rooted today as well! heres some pics. I'm off to finish this toke and go look at your gardens now!! have fun!

oh my thats so nice to hear the word female mine has showed signs of female ..so imalmost 100% postive she will show female sex during flowering....now for some questions i dont use nutes like u do...i just decided to go with plain water since my MG cactus has nutes in it....take a a look at my plant n tell me should i stick with just strait water or should i be feeding her some....since i started the flowering process im just really confused on how to feed or should i feed... ahhhh see i would just like to have some nice bud to smoke ....thanks any instruction would be great

Glad to hear you got a girl!
As far as feeding goes if your medium came with nutes in it, and your plants are looking good then I wouldn't add any. I've heard some of those mixes can feed your plant for a month or more.
If it isn't broke it don't need a fixin! I would try to find someone witha grow posted using the same medium and see how they do it.
My medium is quite a lot different then yours. I am not using soil to grow . Its a soiless medium and its doesnt have nutes to begin with.
If you decide to feed it go light to start with and i wouldnt reccomend ever going full strength. Some strains like lots of nutes and some hate it.
If you want to stick with mg i believe they have a bloom booster nutrient but i stress go light. it can take a few days to a week to see the changes after feeding.
Remember nutrients are food not steroids lol. you just want to feed it..
There is awesome posts to find out what your plant may need with pics too. I have found if I look around I can find posts TO answer the questions as I go and the people on RIU have helped for all of it . Hope this helps somewhat

Updates! more pics!

More pics then updates really gave a few clones a straight watering.. fed twice once water seems to be a veg program that works for me
gave another to a new home. I get a bubba kush clone for it in the near future.
Just before lights out i tied down the Blueberry , it was pretty stretchy being on the sideline and all.
the big girls are doing great. I think the GWS is responding well to the feeding no bad signs and i think it may be a lil greener today ( could just be me hoping)
buds are healthy and trichomes are a shining,
The lemon skunk is hiding its skunky smell and the citrus/sweet smell is coming out more. unless i rub the stalk or when watering.. then it farts in my face a big skunk stink lol.

Awesome Grow, Kronnix. I know you went with Promix/Perlite/Dol/Lime. Based on your grow, what would you now recommend as a good ration for each? That is where I am at on my research is what medium I might use. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the complements : drool is appreciated. If you can get Promix HP it has extra perlite for good drainage.(I got promix bx) I would have gotten that if i could have .may have saved me a step. I find putting in 25% -30% perlite gives me good drainage+ lets them dry in a more reasonable time. I also add 3 good tablespoons per gallon of dolomite lime. I heard somewhere (unconfirmed) that promix has dolmite lime , but i add it as a precaution not sure if its neccesary. its supossed to help with ph and mine has been good so far. I'd start at 25% and if u find your plants are wet too long increase.If they dryout too quick reduce the amount. it will depend on your temps/humidity/airflow/plants. I find straightup promix drains better than MG with 50% perlite so 25% is a great base for me . I have a few clones with no perlite in it and it drains fine. my concern is when they get in the big pots any other readers that have more input on this feel free to share ! I always water until I get runoff and my big pots need water every 5-7 days P.S. Promix doesn't have any nutes to start so you have full control on it's food ; it is also considered to be a soiless medium , in my research i found that the proper ph its controversial as to it being soil level (6.5ish) or hydro levels (6.0ish) whateve ive added to mine has been ph balnced to 6.5. promix will get more acidic as the peatmoss deteriorates. I hope this helps. this is my account of what i've done and what i've read researching more may find something better for you but i like promix so far.

Thanks for the info. From what I have been reading, the choices are FFOF and Happy Frog, Promix HP/BX, and Sunshine #4. I am one to get lost with too many options, so I am trying to keep it simple and cheap. I think your setup is really nice. Do you get your Promix and Perlite at a local box store/nursery, or the internet? The reason I ask is I live between Timbukto and Bum Fuqua Egypt, so I have to order online or drive a couple hours for any decent store.

I got a big bail of promix BX at a gardening /landscape store locally .Ive also seen it advertised in hydro shops. a big bail would probably cost a lot to ship. if you cant get it locally see what options you have close by is something you need to consider. or pack a lunch and make a road trip hehe. I cant get fox farms locally but ive heard good things about it. promix was my choice because of the reccomended things that was available to me locally. I thought it was soil until I read up on it lol
