The most important thing to growing is security in some states like mine you get 10 years for cultivation 10 more with intent to distribute they're really cracking down idk about you but i don't wanna do 20 years for a little bit of weed

you should definitely start anew this thread has 1400 views that means 1400 people know who you are what you look like what you do and where you live, that you plan on a large scale grow to supplement your income 29 posts in what do you have to loose just starting new...25 to life ?

Hey Kelsey, all whistling and catcalls aside, Id like to throw down my 2 cents.
The first thing is how much do you expect to produce? Are you going to be a provider? or just want to have a nice stash?
I myself look at quality first and quantity second.
One thing I think is essential to a good setup is speed of production, on the average you are looking at plants being in the flower room for 65 days and then curing for about a month for top quality herbs. That's a long time when the cupboard is getting bare.
I would strongly suggest dual flowering rooms if you can afford it. I started with a bank of 8 t12 florescents in my veg room and a 600 watt hps in my flower room. That was enough to get the job done. However making the jump to 1000w HPS in the flowering room is quite a step up and worth the investment.
What I would suggest is a 1 T12 florescent (2x40) for cloning, 1 600w MH for vegging and then setting up two smaller closets 4'x4'-4'x6' each with 1 1000w hps in each flower room. You would start one set of plants in the first room let them flower for 30 days and then start flowering a second set of plants in flower room 2. This sets you up in a bit of a perpetual harvest. Cooling for the whole system should be do-able with about 400 cfm pumped through all 3 hoods on the same fan and exhausted into the house for heating.
a second fan system could be installed for moving air through the garden. Make sure to use a HEPA filter on the intake side of the air. It will save alot of hassles, the last thing you want is mold spores setting up shop in your ventilation system.
I would advise using soil. It is a personal choice, but I think it's better and the old guys I know of who are pro's prefer it.
A carbon filter on the garden exhaust will take care of any odor concerns.
Another thing to keep in mind is "CO2 is the Shit!, is the shit, is the shit!" plants in a confined space will quickly convert available co2 to oxygen, co2 to plants is the same as O2 to us. If you've ever been on a jet or in a crowded room and you just feel more and more tired that's because the O2 is getting used up and CO2 levels are rising. The same thing in reverse happens to plants in a closed space. Adding CO2 will keep them babies breathing and they will grow considerably faster and hardier.
Also FANS! keep that air moving do not let any of the rooms stagnate always have air blowing around. This helps with keeping disease and pests from resting on the plants, it keeps the O2-CO2 mixture stirred up and keeps the plants "in shape". It's kinda like exercising them, they build strength to keep from getting blown around all the time.

P.S. one last thing, Go digital, screw magnetic ballasts.....

Hey Kelsey I'd like to put in my .02 here.
First thing you need to do if you want to grow big is get yourself the right location and building to grow in. A large uninsulated(for added cooling), unfinished(so you won't have to worry about damage) basement with high ceilings(that can be hard to find) and ground level windows(for venting) is perfect. Also you want to be able to vent out the basement windows without creating suspicion to niehbors. If you do that you can go all out and grow Kilos, if you don't have that your going to be limited by heat, and stealth concerns.
