Am I the only one who does not want it Legalized?

Has anyone in this thread defined "legal?" Does that mean legal for licensed growers to produce for licensed users? Does it mean legal like alcohol with many restrictions on age, where it can be consumed and even on what days of the week? Does it mean legal with layers of new taxes on it?

Or does it mean legal like sugar - anyone can make it, own it, use it, sell it? You know it's not going to mean that.

I fear that "legal" just means how the money is going to flow differently like ..... to the government. And I'm not so in favor of that.

Exactly. It will NEVER BE LEGAL. Only controlled. Even if semi-legallized. They would have all the SAME RESTRICTIONS, Such as, no growing 1k ft within park, gov bldg, school, church, who knows.. . Also, LEO will come up with a better method to tell if one is high & you will hear more of Pot related DUIs over time.

Some people just Cannot Grow, even if it was legal, Some people Just cannot grow due to where they Live. Only thing you can do then is move, or try your best @ avoiding the law.

My definition is legal like alcohol is legal. They will NEVER completely legalize MJ withyout gov't control and taxation so that we can grow or use without them getting their cut.

Obviously one shouldn't be making upper class wages from something that is grown for much much less. Maybe the markup will actually become much more fair as competition drives prices to their appropriate range. Most stores do not mark their items up 500% or more. Doing so is only taking advantage of people. If youre not comfortable making low-mid range income while giving buyers a fair price then maybe a career change is in line. Personally, money is nice for me, but I would rather see the burn victim who is also paralyzed with many allergies be able to use the only product that helps him smile and live a less painful life. I would like to see this person be able to purchase what he needs at a fair price, without fear of his dispensary being raided, or being arrested.

Yes, I want it legal. I want to live like any other business owner, compete on the open market, I want my children to be able to tell others what their father does for a living. I'm sure this will entail many bureaucratic hurdles. Fine. I'm fully prepared to run my op with full transparency, pay taxes, etc. Just let me do what I do.

Let's not forget that until 70 some odd years ago, it was unregulated. Harry Anslinger <pthooey! I hate saying that name!> fought hard for prohibition how? He went state to state with a campaign of 'facts' that played on the fears of middle America. So, what is needed to reverse that? A state by state campaign of compassion. That is what is happening right now. A third of our country has relinquished some of it's authority. We need to keep the movement going. Politician's must be made to see the benefit of legalization. Not only to our crippled economy. But because people should not be made to suffer and be forced to sit in judgement of a false "moral majority' who hypocritically say that "Drugs are bad mmmkay?". But who goes home from church on Sunday and has a coctail and a xanax and drifts off to sleep in front of his 62" tv.

Anyways it is still going to take some time. But as the generation of fear dies off and the new generation of compassion ascends to governmental office, things will change.

So you'd rather it be legal so that the government gets the lions share of the money? How much do you think it REALLY costs to produce a qt of vodka? It's almost 80% tax fpr Chrsits sake. And as far as mark up goes, you have any idea how much those "designer frames" you just paid $200 to $300 for REALLY cost at wholesale? Less than $10. There are many products where the markup is insane. Consumer electronics is another one. Ever try to hire a decent (sic) lawyer when unjustly accused of a crime and you are facing prison time? Anyone who believes that this is an altruistic world needs to come back to reality. ANYTHING I do I want paid for, and paid well. I have a window tint business. Window tint blocks 98% of all UV rays. I have customers who have kids with XP (Xeroderma Pigmentosum) and even tho they may have money, not one of them has ever paid to get their houses or cars tinted. EVER. I am about to do the school where one of the kids goes to school, and if the county or the insurance wont pony up the cash, It'll get done anyway. The lady across the street from me has late stage cancer, and she gets an ounce from me whenever she runs out. FREE, But thats just ME. Not everyone is as altruistic.
I agree that anything that is crucial to someones well being should be put on a sliding scale according to their ability to pay, but I never down someone for trying to make money in a capitalistic society. I do that kind of freebie work for those less fortunate, but they are so few and far between it doesn't really affect my bottom line at all. I would do that for anyone I met who truly needed my services until such time that the majority of my custy's needed them, then I'd find another line of work. There just aren't THAT many critically ill people around. I'd even go so far as to say that all growers (and everybody with a skill or trade) should have to do "pro bono". If we spread the burden equally over all the growers, we could make money and still care for the sick.

But Baby, if you aint sick, it's full boat retail, cash only, no discount for quantity under an elbow.

IMO the government pockets plenty of money and has their hands in it right now as we speak. When they pick off large scale op's and pocket $$$. When they issue posession tickets, court fees, etc. Id rather see it go to building roads and boosting the economy, and actually have a visible look at how much is taken. As it is right now, the government is making plenty of money from marijuana IMO, and also jailing people for it at taxpayer's expense. I agree that if you have to take a risk to produce something, then that risk should be reflected in price. I don't think you should give people handouts either if they don't deserve it. The price right now, in my opinion, reflects only the risk of selling a black market item. Without the risk there, and more competition, the price will be lower. If they treat it more like a medicine, maybe there wouldn't be such heavy taxing like there is on booze. Even if there is, so be it. Better than the money grab that's going on as we speak.

Think from a growers perspective what happens to my successful business then?
I am a grower to grow the plant for myself and my friends, and I think it should be legal for everyone to grow it and it should just be free everywhere...reoxygenate the earth and plant fields of it...I want my house to look like a nebraska corn field of weed...No fences, no dogs...just enjoying a simple weed that grows everywhere, and for some reason just makes being human easier...

I can understand why you wish to remain illegal, but I would rather not go to jail for growing weed when the only reason I grow it is because the laws in place force me to deal with criminals and precarious situations just to get a little pot...I got tired of it. So now I break the law because it is safer than dealing with a bunch of underground shady bullshit... So yes i want it legal so I am no longer at risk for doing something I really believe in. But then again it makes me no money...just saves my money, and time, and I can honestly say my life without being dramatic. I have naievely walked into a few very dangerous situations trying to buy a 1/4 oz. of pot and that is just wrong!!! Nobody should have to go through anything like that to get something that has so many great benefits and also so few bad effects....Of all the terrible drugs that have been and are legal they choose MJ to carry a cross against?! Not cool..I think if a plant can live in my yard I should be able to grow it in my yard...So many jobs created and monies saved. Cash redirected from prosecuting people for MJ could go to schools since they are closing schools, as well as numerous other government regulated services...Legalize it and create all those jobs...You want to talk about good for the environment?! Grow a plant resposibly is seriously helps the environment...I have thought of going out in the middle of the night and setting out free clone stands and then running away...Just to get more people breaking the law and tip tip tipping those scales back where they need to be.

Awww...Jeez crazy long rant...sorry...*cough cough*

Put the stands up. That would be hilarious, and probably make CNN!

Good thinkin ;)

Well, because it is legal, you could expand your business until you become the Kraft of our plant business. You would make your product so cheap that the average person couldn't grow the product for the price you sell it at. You would make your profit on volume and you would have a head start on it because you are an experienced grower.

Lol, making weed legal will only push dealers to start producing other "non-legal" but certainly more dangerous types of black market drugs.................. and will eventually snort you own buisness down the drain or die from overdose...

i think if it were legal of course there would be huge weed factories and such but think of all the people buying weed...so there would still be a huge market for selling weed. but more importantly people who know nothing about weed the brainwashed ones would finally see it is medicine and i really think the only hope for this world is weed. think about it...if the whole world was high and happy instead of battling eachother constantly it would be such a better place.
