Re-potting Question peeps !

i av done 2 grows first grow from jiffy cup to 5gallon was root bound when harvested but got excellent yield ! 2nd grow i repotted to a to a 2 gallon for 2 weeks then up to 5g no root bound but harvest was roughly the same as was potentcy !

QUESTION IS ?

HOW MANY TIMES DO U GUYS REPOT WHEN IN SOIL ON A 4 WEEK VEG AND 8 WEEK FLOWERING TIME ( ROUGHLY )

ONCE TAKEN FROM JIFFY CUPS ?

i normally transplant mines anywhere 2-3 times. once when they are in the solo cup and start seeing root tips coming thru the bottom i transplant either to a 1gallon or 2 gallon airpot. once i start seeing roots i transplant again to a 3gallon airpot and thats it for me.

i don't really practice "extreme up-potting". i have plastic starter pots and plastic finishing pots, so there is just a single transplant. my average veg time is 6 weeks and i have never had root issues with this system. there have been a few times where i started in party cups and then moved to my starter pot due to space constraints and i actually seem to have had more root issues then because plants outgrow small pots so quickly. final pot size is 3 gallons.

that's not to say that extreme up-potting has no merit. i've honestly never had the dedication to do that and see for myself. i will say it sounds like a great way to know what's in the soil at any given time, which is a good thing. some people don't even feed, they just keep potting up into fresh nutritious dirt.

personally i repot based on whether the plant looks like it needs it and nothing else.

i also don't like jiffy cups. unless they are kept constantly moist the roots have a hard time poking through, and again, i don't have that kind of dedication. doesn't mean it's a bad product just my .02.

when i refer to jiffy cup i shud clarify i use small pots which r the size of jiffy cups hence me using the term just for size comparison purposes ! the reason i ask also is the hassle the extra soil etc so just wanted to see what u guys were doin..... thanx for ya in put man !

this is the way i am going except i dont av airpots would b nice but its affording them ! will av to price them up out of curiosity ! cheers man !

2-3 times is good .. just make sure you let em setup for a week or so in their flowering pot before you flip em .. that way any stress from the transplant has passed and they are established in their final home

goodquote about leaving for a week or so before flip for any stress to be rid of, i av done it a few times now n sees to go ok coz the plants thrive imediatly after,, just let it dry out some and take it out in one lump strate to next pot with pre wetted soil in allready ! peace out !

I usually go from clone or germ to solo cup, then after 2 or 3 weeks into 1 gal, then after a week or two out it into 12/12, sometimes I do the last pot-up (2 gal) the day I move it to 12/12 or wait a week into 12/12. It doesn't seem to hurt it when transplanting up to two weeks into 12/12.

I dont see a need to transplant at all. I start in peat pellets and as soon as I see roots the go into their final pot. No stress!! No mess!!

I was always told by Advanced Growers to limit ur Transplanting and i truly believe that. Everytime u transplant or almost everytime ur plant will be in slight shock from the move and will have a week-ish of slower growth. I only transplant once and it seems to do well for me!
