Good deals on DWC setups?

Is that a reasonable price? I was thinking of getting that kit and then buying 3 other rubbermaid jugs, and figuring out a way to run the pump through all of them (so each plant can have a lot of root space). Im just getting into DWC though, i dont know a lot about it right now.

I was just wondering about what most people spend on a full kit and where good places are to grab them at?

Looks alright. You can build that for about $60 though. And then keep $140 for your apocalypse seeds.

Exactly what he said. And you dont even need the pump. Only difference between DWC and Bubbleponics is that the pump is to top feed until you get roots in the water but you can do the same by dipping a cup and feeding yourself, plus the pump only warms the water which is pretty bad in DWC/Bubbleponics.

Dont buy that =) You can make a RDWC with spade drill bits, uniseals, pvc pipe, a hack saw, some pvc glue/sealant, and a bunch of 5 gal buckets.

yeah, I am not sure why people even look to buy something made out of a rubbermaid tub or bucket...lol. just make it yourself...as simple as they look is just how simple it is.

Forget anything from Stealth. The water pump is nothing but a gimmick. They should call it pumponics. The whole idea of lots of bubbles is that the bubbles with their splashing action feeds the young plants from underneath. Works like a charm - the real bubbleponics is about bubbles, not water pumps.

From some of what I've read the dutch seem to think you don't need air stones, just a circulation pump and a watering pump. Def seems easy enough to build one, and you might as well because it'll suit you better than something you just bought.

You dont need them in some hydro grows.. I ran Flood and drain reservoirs with no air stones just the air lines making big burping bubbles, but DWC is different cooler water temps allow the roots to take in more oxygen and you get more bubbles with air stones in DWC.

By this he means airstones and airlines, basically no air pumps at all. If your system is desiged right a waterfall setup can mean you hahve no need of them. Turn the tap on while having a bath, bubbles will float to the surface, the movement of water aerates the water on it's own.

Lol thanks for the help everyone, looks like i have a lot of research on this topic left to go. I liked the kit i linked you guys because it comes with lights and reflectors as well, which is really nice to me. But i fi can build it for cheaper, i will. I have a rubbermaid tub already and i know where to get the baskets.

I'm not entirely sure of everything else i need, though. I don't know what kind of water pump, or what kind of air pump to get. Nor where to get airstones lol

initially when i created this topic i thought DWC and bubbleponics were the same thing, which lead to a lot of confusion for me. The reason i chose bubbleponics was because i read that it is the easiest to maintain once setup, and that is my goal here. It seems like kind of a mess thoug. Also, In this form there is no medium, right? I have a brick of coco that if its useful to me i can use.

Okay, i've spent the day on research. I'll be stopping by the hydroponics store next week when i get paid. Here's the list of stuff i intend on getting, I already have a catalog from the store, i just needa look up all the prices.

6 x Five gallon buckets
6 x Nettings
6 x Airstones
6 x Rockwool
3 x Bag of rocks
1 x Air pump with 6 feeds
1 x Nute tester
1 x pH tester
1 x Tent
1 x 600w HPS
1 x 600w MH
1 x Digital ballast
1 x Air cooled reflector
1 x Foxfarms nute trio
2 x inline fan?


As for the inline fans, how many will i need? The tent im looking at has one intake and one outtake (top and bottom corners) .. but i need a air cooled hps hood, so does the fan hook directly into the hood? I don't understand where to exhaust that heat if ive only got one exhaust in the top corner for the rest of the tent. Also when looking at fans what kind of CMF should i aim for? I do have a budget limit here, so the more i save the better.

Please do note if theres anything not on that list that i'd need, I have really bad ADD and im stoned, it's hard to remember everything.

rinse and precharge that coco with liquid karma and cal/mag and you wont regret it! Bubbleponics and DWC are the same thing the only difference is a stupid pump. DWC is bad ass the very first grows I ran were DWC and still to this day I can not match the growth in veg you get with DWC.
