i think something like root rot might develop from this... IMO you can use 3% hydrogen peroxide 30mL per gallon and use that to flush them...

the goo you may be refering to are the byproduct of the thrive alive b1red. its an organic nute. known to give brown roots..also keep your res. cold 58f and areated and stir it up dont let it get stagnant..water temp is a must!!!!

You need to keep your rez. temps for hydro around 75 to 70 is very good. Must change
rez. at least every two weeks. I do mine EVERY week. Have had good results. I use
hygrozime and I put frozen gel packs in the res to cool. I'm running DWC W/ 400W digital, 3 12" airstones in a 14 gall. rubbermaid. CHEESE femmed from Greenhouse. All five seeds germed and am waiting for some preety girls, I hpoe.

I am a complete amateur doing a first grow -- but I stopped an outbreak of weird slime with a trip to my pet store and a quick look at my present supplies. A few drops of chlorhexidine (a common antibacterial) and a tiny bit of anti-parasite medication (which contains antifungals) and my system has been running clean as a nun's undies.

Before anyone asks: aquarium antifungals are safe to use in small quantities. I've seen them used with aquatic flora and fauna which are a whole lot more sensitive than hemp.

Also note: if you're adding beneficial bacteria to your system you REALLY don't want to be putting in any chlorhexidine.
