dude you can get a 400 watt hps/mh light kit on ebay for as low as 140... get the rest at a hardware store and build it yourself... never short change the light...
Is there a advantage to the 1st system? Is 400watts going to make a difference over 250 if i upgrade bulbs later? Store is open tomorrow. I plan on going
The 1st setup I looked at was 250/400 setup Did you look at it?

i would still go with the first one. the ballast is much better and easier to operate.

Definitely think about it, the extra light will go a long way. Just make sure you can keep that tent at the proper temperature with the light on.
Tent? I have a cabinet. I think I will stick with 250, get started and see what happens. I mean the 250 hps is better than what I was going t start with. I can't sleep waiting to go to store tomorrow

400 watts would create a lot of heat in that small space you have, the 250 watt will be fine. your grow area is just over 4 sq ft right? thats about 60-65 watts a square ft which is great, you only need about 50 watts a square ft. Let us know how it goes!
On my way home with 250 hps. Well actually have alot of stops I have to make first. I am so anxious to just set it up and try and grow the seeds I have now. I am thinking of just starting them out now to and waiting to put them in the cabinet later. I just want to get something going. I am still trying to find a good place to order single seeds from. I want to start with 8 total and Grow 2 to 4 at a time

its probably a good idea to get some practice so just plant those and see what happens

Dude, if there is an eHydro store around you, that means you live in California, right? In that case get your medical card if you don't already have it, and just walk into a dispensary and pick up a few clones. You will get a month head start over seeds, and great phenos to choose from.

Hey everyone. While I am himming and hawwing about the cabinet build/setup. I did as you suggested. I have 4 that have popped thru soil so far one is tall. Soon as I fiugre out how to post the pictures I will. On a side note ended up with a 400 watt HPS bulb a timer also. The econo wing has me worried. I am thinking of taking it back, the guy at the store told me I could get a yieldmaster II for $50 more. Anyway the random bag seeds were left in the bathroom. I have a spare unused bathroom. So I have been running the lights in there for 12 hours on and 12 hours off. For some reason I am wanting to experiment with this setting from seed to end. I have gave you some rep because you are the man. Hopefully I will get at least one female I planted 31 random seeds. Still figuring out details on cabinet but will continue using spare bathroom for now.
