:leaf: Hey, i germinated my seeds already but it's still to cool outside for them to grow so i put the seedling in a styrofoam cup poked some holes in the bottom and cut some slits in the sides, put some of my personel mix in (soil) and put it in my car for like a greenhouse effect. I was wonderin could i keep it there for now until it strengthens up and also when it gets ALOT warmer outside? I live in alabama i hope that helps and i'm using soil that has about 10 years of concentrated chicken crap in the soil, along with some homemade compost. Any ideas would be great thanks! this is my first grow also!:leaf:

You need at least 16 to 24 hours of light for them to grow properly and not flower right away.
You need temperatures above 50 degrees
You need Direct Sunlight for at least 5 hours a day
i dont know much bout' Alabami but thats what i do know

Your about 45 days erly. They need 18 hours of light or they will flower. Even some cfls set to 18/6 would help them stay. Also you will be repotting them soon.

Bro the car has a roof and not much sun gets in, also they will flower soon as days are too short, and last but not least are you going to drive around with a marijuana garden in the back seat?

Not true guys. Nowhere in the continental USA receives 18 hours a day of sunlight, eveb on the solstice. The outdoor veg/flower works much different than indoors. Most plants start flowering late July to early August when the hours of daylight fall below about 14.

You are correct in that putting plants out now they would definitely start flowering.

Wait a few months and start them indoors under some lights for a few weeks and put them outside for good in May.

^^^^^^the voice of reason here. On the longest day of the year I have barely over 14hrs of daylight. To find out what your light hours are check this out http://www.sunrisesunset.com/predefined.asp

They will try and self-pollinate as well when using an opposite light schedule. I learned the hard way last Spring due to laziness, should have turned on a light after sunset to keep her awake.

I've read from 3 different sources that when dealing with natural sunlight, you add 2 hours onto whatever the sunrise/sunset, almanac or whatever tells as length of sunlight in day. I think to account for dusk and dawn. Which I guess confirms what you're saying

Your right. But after Reading my post. I was a little unclear. Being outside right now with the short light hours now they will flower and not finish intime. I should of said bring them inside and use cfls set to 18/6 to keep them in veg. And with cfl they won't be super monsters by the time he can put them out. And 14hrs of sunlight is fine. And 45 more days of veg will only help get a large yeild.

What for?, I assumed you had a convertible...kidding. Try Lowes for 42W 6700 CFL's, about 9 bucks each. Near the extension cords, they'll have the bulb/socket adapters for around $3 each.

Go way in the back of Lowes, outside. That's where I get my organic base potting soil, the brand is Timberline out of Atlanta. Make sure you check the bags, don't buy any if there is so much as a pinhole in the bag b/c it could contain unwanted pests. I used miracle grow potting soil for almost 2 years, you actually have to learn how to use MG...so it's rather pointless. I add mushroom compost, peat, perlite, and worm castings to the timberline mix and it's still cheaper than miracle-grow. The soil blend can also be re-used whereas MG cannot.

Happy shopping!
