Transition Time Switch Question.

I've read some places that in some cases that some plants can be stressed by changing lights from 18/6 to 12/12 immediately, so has anyone tried anything like going from 18/6 to 12/12 over a six day period, being as it would seem more like mimicking nature doing it over six days like 18/6, 17/7, 16/8, 15/9, 14/10, etc... til you get to 12/12 would this have any ill effect, or do you think it would be less shock on the plant easing it into flower this way.

Thats true, but coming from any type of light schedule down to 12 12 kicks the flowering stage in gear, I wouldnt do 72 tho id do more like 32. But thats just me$

In all my research/learning, Ive never heard of anybody having an issue with the switch.

Then again, Ive never heard of anybody doing a gradual change either, as its not like you are hurting the plant by changing light schedules....its not like nutes/PH.

Folks using 12/1 veg system report visibly less stretch during the first two weeks of budding.
This is different from a gradual transition plus I don't think the two week bud stretch is caused by stress. What stress related growth are you trying to stop?

12/1 is just crazy if you ask me, your asking for slow growth imo, I dont do 24 tho, I feel like the plant can only take up to 18, and the need some dam rest, if your runnin 24 I think your wastin electricity, I could be wrong just my piece of mind tho, and dont over think the flip im sure every one and there grandma will assure you, that you will do no damage to tue by flipin, you prob need to concentrate on lookin for any type of light leak, that will cause you some real problems,

C3 Plants don't need night time to veg so yea you're wrong. However the best reported schedule to veg is 24/0. 24 hours of dark before transition (if possible) and straight 12/12 from there. Anything above 18 hours of light will keep your plant vegging.

Like I said I could be wrong, but I to have read that cannabis plants can only intake and actually use ( I wanna say it said) 19 hours of light, but im not saying im right and your wrong, one thing I have learned about growing, is that untill I part my ways with this magical plant, I will never stop learning, I dont care if its 30 years from now.

the gas lantern method works.

12 on 5.5 off 1 on 5.5 off. for vegetation

my plants grew just as much as when they were under 16 hours of light.

11 on 13 off with 15 minute reductions of light every week. for flowering

when i switched to flowering my plants were about 12" after a month of vegetation. sexing came about fast in just 4/5 days. my plants double in size after 3 weeks. today, day 60, they are about 30" tall. i cut the tops off one plant that are as thick as my aquafina water bottle. i will NEVER use any other lighting schedule ever again.

im still trying to figure out what "stress" people are trying to avoid when switching to flower. i honestly believe people are misinterpreting the transition as stress.

you dont have to do the lighting but once a week. im working with my plants everyday anyway. no problem there. you don't have the reduce the lighting. 11/13 the whole way through works just fine.

my next grow im going to go 11/13 the whole way and see if i notice a difference. if not, then i will go back to reducing by 15 minutes every week during flowering. at the least i'll be saving electricity.
