Nice update man :leaf:

I use hydroton for the same reasons as the sand, and I would never go back to not using it. The fact that it helps prevent gnat reproduction is awesome and once I realized how much easier it was to water, I knew I was going to be using it for then on out... it pretty much cut the time I spend water by 75%.

Yeah, give or take. Try it and you'll see how much it helps. I've also noticed that my pots become saturated before any runoff so everything is soaking pretty evenly... that also helps me dial in exactly how much water to use.

Exactly. Glad you have the same experience UTA!

Hey guys, sorry I've been slacking with the updates...you know how life can get in the way of things sometimes.

@trusmokr...roots are definitely sensitive to light (UV light in particular) so it is yet another benefit of adding a layer of sand to the top of the soil!

@wbw...So I have confirmed 5 plants are females: BOTH Chemporer x Candy (Super fucking excited about these!), 1 Apollo 13 BX, 1 CC Sour Diesel, and 1 White Widow. All the others are either confirmed male or still too young to determine sex (though I transplanted 1 Sour Hazy Jones that looked like it could be a female into a large pot). Unfortunately I think both White Old Larry's and both Sour OG's are male...ugh...but that is the nature of the game I suppose (and also the reason I took clones!).

I'll get some pics up of the newly transplanted girls this evening after they awaken from their slumber. I'll probably give them ~1 week to grow into their new pots before flipping the lights.

Sounding good as I know the chemporer x candy is some damn dank!;) cc sour d is also something special. Sorry to hear about the sour og I had 3 going recently and all ended up male I just deaded theM because I got enough pollen from my Tahoe male which I found to be a very piney/skunky one..

The gsog x og I got are doing great 3 are in flower confirmed females an I have 8 more vegging along with 5 purple kush x ny Jo og,10x og x aloha widow and 8x inferno haze.
I also got some beans from Cali connect.. Sour og FEMs, sour og regs(swerve changes the name to 818 headband) the new
Buddha og( Louie xiii og x Tahoe fem) and strawberry og.. Shit is going to be a real stinky spring/summer ;)..

So it has been approximately 2 months of vegging now, and most of the plants have adequately revealed their sex. As stated previously, both Chemporer x Candy are female, 1 Apollo 13 BX, 1 Sour Diesel, and 1 White Widow. Both White Old Larry's are male and have been culled, along with Sour OG #1 and Sour Diesel #2. Apollo 13 BX #2 is also male, but was the best looking of the males and will be preserved for breeding purposes (should I decide to make seeds from these plants).

That leaves Sour Hazy Jones #1, #2, and Sour OG #2 as the only plants whose sex cannot be definitively identified at this point. All have preflower nubs, but I just can't differentiate between stamen or calyx...usually the stamen are easy to identify because they will either cluster at the node or form 2 little curved bits near the tip of the nub that appear to encase the preflower...but right now all 3 look like teardrop shaped calyxes that have yet to push out pistils. I am going to wait until the end of this week (probably friday) to flip the lights in the tent, but hopefully they reveal their sex before that.

Here is a group shot of the tent prior culling the 4 males.

Here is Sour Hazy Jones #1. This plant is a triploid, which makes me think it will probably be male, as all my previous triploid plants have been dudes. Still holding out hope for pistils though.

Here is the Chemporer x Candy #1. She was the first plant to show sex, and is a very healthy grower. The picture kinda sucks because I just finished re-training her before I took it, so you can't really see what's going on. But she is the early favorite to do dank things!

Next, Chemporer x Candy #2. She is much more leggy than #1 and took longer to reveal sex, but smells just as incredible. Stoked for this girl too.

Sour OG #2. Could be male, could be a female. Growing kinda slow and weird, but is healthy, which is usually a good sign its a female. The fast strong growers seem to be male more often than not, while the slow ones seem to be female. Probably has to do with their radically different dioecious flowering cycles.

Next, Apollo 13 BX #1. This confirmed female is pretty lanky and likes to branch, but is growing quite healthily. The first two pics are before administering the next round of training, and the 3rd pic shows it immediately after for comparison.

Here are the other 3 plants in large pots. Sour Hazy Jones #2 on the left (who's sex remains unconfirmed), Sour Diesel female in the back left, and White Widow female to the right (with the thermometer).

Here is the Apollo 13 BX male that I intend to keep for breeding. Probably use it to cross with the Apollo 13 female, both Chemporer x Candy, and maybe the Diesel or Sour Hazy Jones.

Finally, here is an overview of the tent after removing the males and re-training the females. As I said before, I intend to commence flowering very soon for these beautiful ladies. I like to give them all at least a week to grow into their new pots before flipping the lights...I figure the plant expels less energy towards root expansion and focuses primarily on stem elongation and bud formation after the first week or two of flower, so I like to get the root zone a little more established before I put them into flower.

keepin em green and low, lookin good Jerry. That apollo male looks like a nice breeding project. hopefully the rest of the unknowns are female, looks like they'll fill the tent out nicely.

Hell yeah dude, I've just about reached the max amount of training I can administer in pots this size. The Apollo and Chemporer #1 are probably done after this, as I have achieved the desired number of colas for each (and will probably need to trim back a few branches as they start to bud).

As for the Apollo male, he is pretty solid in terms of structure and vigor, and has pretty awesome genetics (Apollo 13 female and an Apollo-dominant Vortex male) that should mix nicely with any of my females.

Looking real good you can see the plants are very healthy.. Good job man keep it up:wink:
Thanks buddy :leaf:

I see them every day, so the only way I can tell how much they've grown is by looking back through the journal haha.

I will say they seem to grow faster as they get bigger though...

Great looking plants Jerry. Keep up the green work. Btw its ironic, I'm a pothead/deadhead and live less than 20min away from Huntington. Too bad I missed out on those years lol. Great Jack Straw imo

Those were the best years, in my opinion. Keith and Donna's last show was another great one... 2.17.79. Passenger from that show is mental!
