You'll find this question and answer several times in this forum, flowering times are an estimate, gotta go by trichomes. 30 - 50% amber is what I go for, some say 70% but amber trichomes are damaged (spent) so don't let it get to long. I count flowering from the day I flip the lights.

Find a jewelers loop or a hand held 30x microscope, this will allow you to view the trichomes. Here is a link to an article on this forum. https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/66405-amber-alert.html

that all depends just like blizzard said its all about the triches look at them if they are all clear you still have a while if they are all looking cloudy you got at least two weeks if they are looking mostly cloudy but a lot are amber then yeah they'll maybe be done around the 14th and if they are all amber pull them now before its too late but definitely get some sort of high zoom magnifying glass. we ccant really tell without any pictures or better details every plant grow slightly different depending on strain

Amber trichomes mean the thc is degrading. Why do you guys want degraded thc? I try to harvest closer to 100% cloudy, but experienced growers don't look at trichomes only -- they look at the big picture.

I'm a newbie, could you explain more on the big pic as I read amber was the way to go also.

some pics would help. i agree with pj for the most part you dont want 70% amber thc degrades to cbn which is useless. just cloudy trics as soon as you see amber its time. some parts of a plant might mature faster than other parts so you may not have to harvest everything at once.

you dont really need to use a loupe...basically when you can look at the plant and its plump the crystals have elongated the plant looks like its dying and turning nice colors....you can just see the end coming, it usually takes longer than the breeder says and yes you have only actually been flowering fully for a week to two less then the switch so you most likely have time to go...pics would help greatly

The big picture includes many factors like plant vigor, ratio of new pistils to wilted pistols, how swollen the calyxes are, age, strain genetics, etc..

It used to be that the rule was to harvest when 75% of pistils had wilted, now these days everyone is all about the trichomes. Both answers are wrong is they are used as the only determining factor. Some strains will get amber trichomes weeks before the plant is truly ready, and others will not turn amber until past peak harvest. It all comes down to knowing your plant, and knowing what kind of high you like.

I had a plant that the breeder said was 8-10 weeks (sour diesel) the first time I looked at it under a scope it was at 50% amber and only on week 6, I pulled it and it's super stoney and the plant was looking rather healthy. On the other side of the coin I have a strain that says 7 weeks I took the tops off around 55 days and let the lower branches go to 62. Trichs were almost 100% cloudy on both the tops and the lower when harvested but I went by the plants health (purple dying leaves) and knowing that all cloudy wasn't a bad thing just a different high I was cool harvesting at 100% cloudy.

year but are you talking 6 weeks from seeing flower , or 6 weeks from the 12/12 flip..?

Well I think you will find more orange hairs over the next week, but really use the chart above and grab yourself a handheld 30x scope or jewelers lens. You can get the scopes (at least round these parts) at head shops, tobacco shops that sell glass pipes and I've seen them at garden stores.
