I've seen this, and had it explained in detail by my cooks. The taller, more northern Mexicans hate on the (pardon my use of this word here) Juaqitos, or short native Mexicans from the southern part of Mexico. Basically, the lighter skinned, and more european looking, the "better". Then you have the Mexicans vs central america and as far as I can tell the Northern Mexicans think they are better than the central americans too. But this is all from the northern mexican viewpoint.

Kinda like how northerners in the USA think southerns are inbred hicks...

I left cause I had a feeling this was gonna turn into another White Power/Mexican hate thread, but despite a few questionable remarks, I've been delightfully surprised. Way to go RIU.

Because of Catholicism and European influences, lighter skinned people are looked upon more favorably and get more breaks in all aspects of society. A Light-handed approach to racism is accepted against everyone non white.

Its funny how Americans seem so disconnected from the actions of their ancestors. When people ask how Mexicans can live 5 to a room, why don't they ask how their Irish, Italian, Polish, German, etc. ancestors lived 5 to a room in a coldwater flat? Do people watch the Godfather 2 and think its another country?

The majority of immigrants come from awful economic or political situations were education is second to survival. To classify all Mexicans as the guys you see brawling on the street is completely ignorant and dangerous. If that were applied to everyone, Americans wouldn't be allowed to travel, the French wouldn't be allowed in elevators and Germans wouldn't be allowed to eat out.

This is a HUUUUGE country but its funny who we choose to bitch about and how quickly we forget our humble origins. This town's population is about 10% Latino

- Immigrants are denied equal employment rights.

- Immigrants and naturalized citizens are not to be trusted in public service.
- Immigrants and naturalized citizens may never become members of the clergy.
- Private citizens may make citizens arrests of lawbreakers (i.e., illegal immigrants) and hand them to the authorities.
- Immigrants may be expelled from Mexico for any reason and without due process.

Yep, Mexico treats everyone but Mexicans like shit!
