Keep a close eye on the trichomes. They will tell you when to harvest.

The capitate-stalked glandular trichome changes color as it matures. Newly formed and immature glands are clear, glands reaching optimum THC production are cloudy or milky and amber trichomes have already passed their peak. By looking at the trichomes you can also determine the best time to harvest your plants. When most trichomes have gone cloudy and a few amber ones have appeared, the plant is at its peak.

CANNABINOL (CBN)

Cannabinol is the primary degradation product of THC and increases in concentration with plant age. The concentration of this product in the bud is heavily dependent on the time of harvest. Harvesting the bud at a late stage also means that the concentration of CBN in relation to THC will be higher when compared to the peak of THC production.

CBN is only mildly psychoactive and can cause "fuzzy head", drowsiness, disorientation and sleepiness in the smoker, properties that can be considered unpleasant in nature compared to the clear high of the THC.

so i just looked at them and there 80% milky and 20%amber should i chopp i mean they still look like they can get a lil fatter and not all the white hairs have resitted back on the bud idk i think ima give them another week which would make it 8 weeks total just to be safe most of the white hairs are a lil red/amber and there still standing straight up

If you want to throw away more THC than you already have just to get a small amount more bud and more darkened pistils, then have at it, they're your plants.

do u really think there ready i mean they probably look ready in the pix but wen ur next to them they dnt im thinking 2 more weeks mayb a week more just like lil rich said ima keep on checking the trichs everyday twice a day just to becarfull there just about done week 7 on attitude it says 11 weeks Sativa Seeds N.Y.P.D is a sensational and radical new mix, New York Power Diesel is an F1 hybrid of our popular Sativa Mexicana and a specially stabilised Aurora Indica. The latter's heavy, greasy narcotic buzz beautifully takes the edge off the crispness and speedy effect of the former. NYPD's shockingly powerful terpenoids result in a weed with a lemony flavour and the diesel-like aroma that inspired its name. N.Y.P.D plants grow tall stems with a surprisingly tight bud structure. N.Y.P.D cannabis seeds take 11 weeks or fewer to flower and it's THC is high between 15-24%. Yields are not outstanding but still worthwhile.
thats wat they recommend its been 7 weeks so ima just keep posting pix and keep checking on the trichs everyday to see wass up and thnx all for the help ill keep u posted and a smoke and harvest report comeing soon hopeing to get 2lb at most

Different harvest times will also alter the high. Harvest when milky for a more clear "up" high, more amber for more of a fuzzy couchlock stone, and more weight (this is what I prefer). But that is also very depedendant on genetics (some strains just don't have the cbd to get you couchlocked in the first place).

If its your first run on a strain take multiple harvest off them or take a tester nug off and see what she smokes like just remember your resin heads continue to ripen a bit while you hang and cure your buds also so i try to keep the temps the same for my curing and another reason why i take 3 harvests most of the time so i can have different highs just make sure you label your jars and not mix up the nugs if taken at different times.

Quoted from High Times March 2011 issue from the article "Trichome Tech - Inside the Resin Factory"

For years, K would harvest once the resin heads began turning from opaque to amber, but he's recently rethought his timing thanks to a study by Dr. Paul G. Mahlberg who found that the THC in a resin head is at its peak when it's still clear - not opaque and certainly not amber. Dr. Mahlberg stuck a tiny syringe into the bulbous head of the trichome and extracted its contents, then analyzed it for THC.

The result, without a doubt, THC is at its highest before the trichome turns opaque. This makes sense when you think about it: Who harvests fruit when it's turning brown?.....K now harvests at the first sign of opaque trichomes, when the majority on the plant are still clear."

3 weeks really lol ill see how they look next week i wass thinking 2 more but hey there getting bigger evryday so 3 weeks might just b it
Three weeks is a guess, as your flowers aren't fully formed yet. As a rule of thumb, it's safe to harvest 10-14 days after the buds are fully formed. What's a fully formed bud? One that looks like it's ready to be chopped to someone without a lot of experience (I mean that in the best way). FWIW, I look at the flower mass, itself, and the shape of the trich head as the primary determinates. Typically, at that point, the trichs are mostly cloudy.

Look bro, all your gonna get with this thread is a bunch of differences in opinion. I would do trial and error personally. Crop out one now, cure, then compare to the others you waited on. Next time youll know exactly which suits your tastes better.

At least some of it was not; "opinion." What came from Dr. Paul G. Mahlberg was actual scientific research findings. Another piece wasn't exactly; "opinion" either, though I saved the info but not the link where it came from so I cannot say what researcher came up with it.

His research program began over 20 years ago and continues to the present, specializing in the ultra structure of the resin-producing gland and the biogenesis of its cannabinoids.

From thoose pictures you posted 3 weeks at the very least, anyone telling you to harvest now has either no experience or is harvesting immature airy buds. You gotta think about it, its all well and good trichs looking ready but if you only have half the trichs its gonna finish with what's the ducking point, how long does the breeder say cause it almost certainly won't be finished before then

That last pic looks pretty damn ready. However isnt the plant supposed to start changing colors at this point? (fan leaves yellowing etc)
