Mixing Advanced Nutrients... Properly!!!

hey guys my first grow with coco and i got a chance to use my friends tds meter. up till now i only had a ph meter. i was hoping you guys can help me out i was wondering if im using 100% organics iguana juice from AN does it show up on the meter with the correct ppm or is it off. ive been reading and reading and i keep seeing mixed info hoping some one can clear that one up for me. i use RO water and its at 25 ppm coming out. after adding calmag 1.5ml and Iguana Juice 2.5ml to 2L my ppm is at 330. ive been reading that in the third week of flower, like i am, i should be closer to 1000ppm. so all i do is add more Iguana juice to raise the ppm? i also just started using carbload, bud candy, kushie kush and budfactor x all at 2ml to 2L half the dose directed on the bottle. my ppm after adding all the above items from AN was just 350 is this normal? has any one used these products from Advanced nutrients before? i thought after adding all those supplements it would raise the ppm alot more. any helpfull help will be greatly appreciated thank you have a very GREEN day!

Sounds like the iguana does show up. If it didnt at those amounts you'd still be under 100ppm. So correct just add more Iguana to raise your ppm. EDIT: By the way I think Monkey Juice if the right AN Base for Coco, although honestly im switching to coco myself and leaving AN out in the cold... Went to Canna Coco, saves about 1000 on nutes, prob will have a better cleaner product & ill cut my nute mixing time into 1/10th.

I dont do it that way because I add certain amounts of the additives without regard to the PPM. 2ml per gallon. My RO is pretty clean, about 10ppm. So after I get done adding all my additives im still under 100, usually 70-90 ppm. Then I find about 1ml per gal of each base (A&B) gets you about 100ppm. So if I wanted 700 ppm (HANNA) i would add 7ml of base per gal after my adds and it's damn close to 700! If you dont have a Hanna Meter this prob wont be so easy for you as your PPM will be diff than mine. Use EC, its the only universal language. The exception is if im going to 1000ppm (2.0EC) then it takes me 11ml per gallon.

I actually started a thread last week asking about AN sensi n ppm levels that no one responded to but you've answered it nicely for me so 700 ppm is about 1.5 ml per litre and 1400 upwards is about 2.5 ml per litre... Simples!

It falls inline with what I've seen from how strong the AN sensi two part is. Had like 4 grows but noting above 3oz per plant n I had started thinking it was down to too much nutes locking stuff out (going by your scale I was at like 1200ish ppm at week 2-3 veg!! Going higher through the bloom!)

+rep to you sir just about to start a new cycle from seed so may journal it to see the results going off the adjusted strengths.

I'm not quite following your ml/l conversion there... Just try this, PPM is on my Hanna meter. Ill paste the conversion chart again for everyone.

1. Add all your extras "Bud Ignitor, Kushie Kush, Big Bud, whatever" at 2ml per GALLON

2. Add base nutes to achieve desired total ppm. Base Nutes are each so if I say 6ml it's 6ml of A & 6ml B

Desired PPM = Ml of Base to add after adding all your Additives/Boosters (@ 2ml a gallon)

500 = 5ML (A&B)
600 = 6ML
700 = 7ML
800 = 8ML and so fourth.

Note if you are using less amounts of the additives, rather then the copious like 20 they have it may take more base to get your PPM up. Just use this as a guide. After you have mixed & let it sit & circulate for several hours check the PPM, if your at 600 for example and wanted 700 add 1 more ml of EACH A & B. There is your 100 PPM. Then let that sit a few more hours. Now check & adjust PH. Few hours later i like to again check PH again and adjust 1 more time if i didn't nail it the first time.... and VIOLA there you have it folks, your "Dialed in" AN recipe, customized to whatever money sucking additives you've chosen

I converted your scale to ml per litre not gallon (UK) and I use a 20L res but mix in two 10L buckets so your figures where divided by 4.5 (litres in a gallon) and then times by 10 (size of each bucket) to get my ML/L scale.

i.e if 7ML/Gal = 700 ppm then its 7/4.5= 1.5555555 x 10 = 15.5ml to a 10L bucket | 31ML TOTAL (but i only have a 5ml measure at smallest so i round down to 15ml per bucket)

I only have bud candy and bigbud as additives so will be using them at the 2ml/L. Well I have also got a vitalink buddy but its just a PK booster like the bigbud so prob wont use it as I think it may be over kill on the pk side of things

Sorry I should have said earlier I wanted this rough conversion scale as I dont have a ppm meter so have been "winging it" as it where but it still led me the the same conclusion by reading the plants based on how much nutrient they had..... the conclusion was that AN are fucking crazy if they think a plant will take 4ml/L straight through!

Mind you they will be using big lights, massive C02, correct temps etc so the plant will take more nutes in that lab-type setting but would still love to see them show a grow done start to finish on video using there calculations and chart!

Ahhh you must be in the UK, use the US Gallon for your conversions which is 3.78 rounded off instead of 4.5 this will make the math come out a little diff. So 7/3.78= 1.85 * 10= 18.51 *2 = 37 total, so round to 35ml.

Yeah if your using only a couple choice additives your prob safe running them higher ml/gal. Id prob still go half what they suggest though even then. So like 1ml/L for you since you are not going ballistic with the additives (Which IMHO is a good thing) Instead of Big Bud or Kushie Kush im just going to use PK13/14 from Canna for a mid bloom booster.

I've heard people say to add micro first, then grow and bloom. Always add base nutes first since this is what your plant needs most of to grow. I use base nutes at 3/4 strength, additives at 1/2 strength, then go back and add more base nutes if the ppm isn't where you want it.

Using the ratios ive outlined here i dont need to fiddle with shit or measure PPM between adding things. Just add A , B, & everything else under the hydro sink in any order you please. It comes damn close to where I want it so im happy with it

Also it couldnt be easier... If i want 700 ppm i use 7ml of each base and my 2ml a gal of additives. Boom right at 700, at higher ppm you may have to add a bit more base but its easy to guess how much more you need. Thats why you have to check the PPM & PH after everything is mixed well and do your final dial in from there before feeding the ladies with it.

Note once again I can not stress enough this WILL NOT work so easily for you unless you have a Hanna meter which used the .5 conversion factor.

Its nice just to get a straight answer in ml for a change. Hopefully this will solve my yield issues as I've been thinking I get lock out cos of how strong the sensi stuff is.


I'll add the big bud n bud candy @ 1ml /L then and go from there. Yeah I've been looking at the canna stuff myself as ive got like 1/2 bottle of big bud left and the vitalink stuff too.

Lol see that's my fault for not thinking and using the uk gallon conversion rate of 4.5 not the us one! Mind you it would have just kept me a little under the ppm with room to add more judging by how she responds.
