We all know that alot of grow supplies are just a repackaged version of something else with a higher price tag. I thought it would be educational and interesting for people to combine them all in one place. I'll add a few items to start, and edit as I remember and find more, and welcome people to do the same.
First off, I didn't make most of these discoveries myself. I have found them mostly accidentally through other research in grow forums, though there have been a couple items I happened to pass in Home Depot or something. I just wanted to see as much of this as possible in one thread.
Also, I want to say that I do appreciate my local Hydro stores, and have been and will continue to spend thousands of dollars per year there. Alot of them are mom and pop type shops and I do support them. It's my understanding that a Costco type hydro store is coming to my area soon and actually hope they don't shut down all the small shops. They conveniently provide a one stop shop for the grower, as well as a cool environment to talk about grow related stuff with a real person. I expect them to have to charge somewhat of a premium on items as have a limited market and they need to pay their bills. I just think it's a good idea for people to be educated as to exactly what their getting and save money where practical. Also I always think its cool when I see an item repurposed for growing that I didn't recognize. I consider myself a DIYer, but definitly don't skimp by rigging unsafe stuff. I will however buy a non hydro branded alternative anytime there is a significant savings to be had.

-The CAP PPM-3 CO2 Monitor/controller is just a repackaged GE CO2 monitor with a CAP sticker on it. Honestly CAP doesn't even really try that hard. I use a couple cap products including the PPM-3 that I bought on clearance from a store that was discontinuing it. They put all the stuff in a big zip-loc bag and put it in a Uline box with a laser printed sticker on the outside.

-The HydroGEN PRO Water-Cooled CO2 Generator for everyone who hasn’t tried researching this product is a repurposed tankless water heater. To their credit they were the first to make this very awesome idea mainstream knowledge, and probably made some good money doing so. While there original model was pretty much a completely rebranded Chinese water heater, they have added some useful upgrades that have no changed the retail price. These are the items that come with the HydroGEN that probably wouldn’t come with a low end water heater. From the Hydrogen Website: “A few of the upgrades include an automatic relight ignition in case of ignition failure, replacing the 3v battery pack with a power cord adapter that now operates on 12v, adding insulation to the internal tubing to protect it from excessively humid environments, and an additional power outlet for the IceCAP supplemental cooling accessory.”

This water heater is a reasonable facsimile of the original HydroGEN, though note differences as listed above. If you do a forum, or Google search you’ll see the set up and accessory need differences are negligible.

-Along the same line of this CO2 generator is the Electronic Valve they sell that would connect to your CO2 controller. I think this is the right match, but I would double check the specs.

-Rockwool Cubes come in many different brands/shapes/sizes. These come in various sizes and brands, but I think ultimately there are cheaper alternatives.

-Eagle 20 is a popular fungicide used for powdery mildew and other molds that effect cannabis plants. I'll leave individuals to make their own decisions regarding how to use it, and the dangers involved, but this is a common item on the shelf at hydro shops. Typically the smallest available bottle I've seen is a super strong concentrate which would actually probably be enough to apply to a small orchard. Available at a much smaller concentrate more practical to the average grower, and more readily available is a similar product called Immunox, by Spectracide. They both use the same active ingredient Myclobutinil. Even at this less concetrated level, using the highest reccomended dose for any edible plant, this is still a ton of product. (If shopping for this item, be careful not to confuse Immunox with Immunox PLUS. The PLUS is an added insecticide which I beleive is not recommeded to use on consumable plants.)
Eagle 20 (19.7% Myclobutinil) in its smallest available size that I've seen. Approx. $50-$70.
