thank you,

so you never had problems with it? can you please measure your ph down "pure" and see the results!
i really dont think you should measure your ph down adjuster, much to acid, im sure it cant be good for your ph pen mate.

great job, your plants are fine, am surprised they're even in small pots , respect mate

would you help me in this, i want to know how many ml's your using of ph down per gallon or liter, and what reading you get after that, and whats the concentration of the acid and type? so i could use the math without testing with a meter

thanks for the help mate

it wouldnt be of any help as your water probably starts at a different ph...........my tap water is around 7.2, by the time i add ph 6ml down and nutes to 20 litres its down to 5.5 ph. . never dip your ph pen in neat ph up or down cause i think it will fuck it up................you really do need to get a ph pen that works especially if hydro or coco........for soil its not as important.

Bluelab combo meter, never failed me. Had bought some of the cheaper ones with awful calibration (screw in the top) to make sure it stayed accurate it had to be constantly calibrated.

Bought my blue lab and I test it weekly but have calibrated once in 7 months.

Old thread, but acid is good for the probe which is porous. The pores are designed to catch the H+ cation so having more H+ (acidic) is ideal. So long it's not something crazy acidic where it's corrosive, i.e. 12M HCl. The H+ cation prevents the pores from getting clogged with other ions. I store my meter in 2.8-4.0 pH. Also, if your meter is slow to read or drifts in reading pH, these are classic signs that the probe is damaged due to drying. Proper meters are always stored/shipped with the probe kept moist with something acidic. Unfortunately, that means all those yellow meters vary greatly in performance. Basically, it's a crap shoot. Having said all that, you really don't need a lab grade pH meter for growing. If you decide to try the yellow meters, I recommend getting at least 2 so you have a back up.

Just grab any one really and a bottle of PH 7 collaboration fluid. All you need. Although I did buy a BlueLab PH meter combo thing and it stays accurate for a while.

Mlwakee ME 802, two in one. Works great and you only need to replace the prob. Blue lab works for a pretty long time, pens and the probs.

for all who have tried ph testers,

whats the best? what not to buy?
and your experience

thank you
I am very happy with Dr. meter S30. It is really good product for soil ph measurements. It comes in 3 in 1 soil ph meter. It is also affordable ph meter. It is combination of wood moisture meter and soil moisture meter.

I'm currently growing in dwc I rely on my meters heavily & have gone through a few & can only give an opinion on what I've owned Hannah, oakton& bluelab the blue lab has so far given me the best service & holds calibration really well the oakton follows a close second place the Hannah went haywire a few months after I bought it all were pretty close in price range my advice would be to buy the blue lab or the oakton which lasted 5 yrs. & the oakton tds meter I bought at the same time is still going whatever you buy take care of it so in a nutshell oakton or blue lab IMG_0970.JPG
