1st Time Bubble Bucket Grow (Blue Dream)

Well, I just got everything I need for my setup about a week ago and set it up right away. The next day I put my Blue Dream bagseed in a soaked rockwool cube, then put that in my netpot with hydroton clay. I filled the bucket to the point where its just touching the netpot with regular water until I seen the sprout which took roughly 3 days. On the 8th day, I changed the water and added half a teaspoon of fox farm grow big to every gallon. It seems to be growing faster now, on the 11th day, but it looks like the second set of leaves emerging are dark and crinkled. I was hoping someone could help me out a little. I can only afford 1 plant so I'm hoping its female. As for lighting, I only have a cfl for right now, getting a 150 watt hps in about a week or so. Heres what she looks like....

I got a noob question, Im a little confused about the water level. In the beginning you keep the waterlevel so the water is just slightly touching the netpot.
But as the roots grow do you decrease the water level or keep it the same threwout the whole grow/flower cycle?
If you do lower the water level then how do you know which level to keep?

Water does not need to touch the netpot. That's what the bubbles are for. If you have adequate bubble action, you set the water level for where it splashes up on the sides of the netpot. You can lower that level later if you want, but there's no real reason for it.

net pot about a half inch to inch away from water just hand feed until you see roots then you will be ok the bubbling water also keeps bottom wet

Well, I've just read that you could keep the water at the netpot until the roots are about 2-3 inches through the bottom. Then you can move the level down to give the roots breathing room.

as long as the water is oxygenated i can't immagine this would hurt them. wouldnt let it touch the rockwool though.

Yeahhh, I definitely didnt put it high enough to touch the cube. I actually just got done lowering the level because I seen a root popping out about an inch and a half long, and this is after there was nothing before I went to bed. I hope this is a sign that its going to be a nice, fast growing plant.Also, I was concerned about the amount of nutes I used, or if I should even use any at all yet.

what the difference. i grow soil n its easy. this bubble bucket shit seems hard. u get bigger yields or something? I use a 300w and a 125w cfl on 2 girls on 12th day of flower. they look BOMB

Some people like fast cars, some people like off road vehicles, it’s a personal preference. I grow fine is soil so my next grow I am going to add 2 DWC with 4 plants still in soil just to learn. If I fail, I still have 4 in soil. For some of us growing is not all about the end products, but the fun getting their as your girls go from seed to harvest. People who DWC will often tell you its easier and better then soil, so its worth a try for me to form my own option if I like it or not.

But I looked at my bucket plant just now and its growing faaast, but the new leaves are looking really weak and crinkled with a darker outline... Is this a nute problem I'm guessing? She just started growing and fast, I don't want her to die yet.

It doesn't look quite as bad now, but still not perfect leaves.


And that's the soil plant, nothin too special. I think she's real pretty though haha

what? Thats weird because my dyna-gro protekt additive has chlorine in it, my plants arent brown.

if your not using RO or distilled water i would recommend that and adding a cal mag addative.
if not id say back off the nutrients a bit i have heard fox farm can be harsh on younger plants.
