Exhaust Isn't Working Properly...Please Help!!!!!

OKAY!! so my 4x4 Sunhut Xl tent WAS working great up til about a few weeks ago. i have noticed a leak. then i noticed that i did not install the ducting properly. so im completely pist off right now. its making a humming noise all of a sudden. and i can't stand it. ok. so here is a basic break down of my set up. i am in desperate need of help!!!

here is my set up:

hood filter (little black carbon filter and screen velcro'd on)>hood>ducting>ducting reducer>tent>ducting>exhaust fan>ducting>out

see the problem? ok. the tent has these artificial ports on them manufactured on with drawstrings. sizes 4" and 6". i was told since i am running a 1000w in a 4x4 a 8" fan would suit my needs best. and so far it has. however i have been told recently that my hood could be a lot lower and closer to the tops of my plants. right now they appear to be fine, but i have a feeling that if the exhaust was installed properly i could draw more heat off the bulb. plus i know it wouldn't make as much noise. the tents ports are not 8" and i am having a problem with the ducting begin attached to the tents ports since they are 6".

what can i do to fix this issue? when i had everything installed the first few months everything was fine. when i went to shut the door it would make a whistling vortex sound. indicating to me that everything was properly installed correctly.

is it possible that i may nee dot re-lube my fan up? do fans loose power after 6 months??

i know that is not how it is supposed to be hooked up, and i know i am loosing a lot of suckage...flow.

It's like you need a reducer on the outside too, and maybe a 6" connector in between the 2 if they won't fit together.

And could be humming a little from sucking up against your tent.

I think I would flip that fan 90 degrees counterclockwise and mount it on the ceiling, depending on how much higher it is. Looks like it'd be a little more streamlined.

What brand fan are you using? How many cfm's are advertised. Does it have the AMCA certification? If not it probably isn't pulling anywhere near the advertised CFM's and most likely is a cheap fan that isn't as efficient as it was in the beginning

Hydrodawg. i have a 8" fan. BIG ENOUGH!!! its only a 4x4 tent. im super busy atm. but YES!!! i did go and get a 6" connector. and another reducer. but that did not work. and i have thought about moving the fan. but it is smack dab on the stud and can only go up! i have also thought about getting a new fan, new ducting and just rocking the 6" shit like designed. thing is, i love running 1000w. i dunno if im just being obsessive, but i have my light about 10-12" above my plants, little stretch, they were getting super dense under the t5. i wont have to move the light because its only 75 degrees. i think the plants can grow into the light more with out me having to move it. the temp is perfect. i am designing a new tent here within the next few months. i think i will use this hood in the new set up, buy a 6" hood and see how that works for me.

i will come back and watch the vid. you took the time to post it, i would feel bad if didn't at least give it a look. MUCH APPRECIATED TO ALL !!!!

most of the tents on the market HAVE port holes manufactured in them. no need to modify, because there would be no way for the ducting to hold on to the outside, right?? you can buy those flanges and just simply screw them in around the open premanufactured ports. i do think you would need the scratch awl though, just to make holes for the screws. but, and i do appreciate yoru help, i have thought about this route. it will not work in my situation. i did think about buying 2 flanges. installing them back to back, without using the flat pieces. making the flanges go back to back. i thought about that. and that may work! except for 1 thing. i have an 8" fan. a 1000w HD, and a 8" XXXL hood. the biggest hood on the market. i did do some tinkering and got the temp to drop 6 degrees. so that is way good in my book. i also had to hook up the fan controller i purchased a few months back to adjust the speed of the fan. id say the fan is at 98% and the ridiculous humming is gone and no more vibrations. i still think i may need a new fan. i think it may be a little fucked. but oh well.
