odor control

Tell me what you think. Good idea or bad idea?

I have a carbon filter fan blowing from my flower room into another room that is closed up. That room has a window to let the air get out. I was thinking of putting a 5 gallon bucket in front of the window, add a gallon of bleach and fill the rest with water. Hang a towel in front of the window with part of it in the bucket so it wicks up the water. As the air goes out the window it passes the towel and helps cover up any smell that may be there.

Bleach stinks and is cheap. Any alternatives besides ona to help cover up any smells.

Was thinking of hanging a bunch of dryer sheets in front of the window or all over the room. Anything to get the room stinking of anything other than mj and then it flows out the window.

Yes, no?

does it smell from the filter? i run 2 filters so i can open all my windows if i want .....

i dont know man i would just buy the ONA IMO, bleach water stinks but everyone knows you dont clean everyday so bleach watre might be a little weird. dryer sheets work good but dont last long you could try an ionizer or a ozone generator( they have fluoro's at walmart that ionize that air pet smart or something like that)

The filter should handle the smell, man. That's why it's there. What is the deal? Old filter? Bad filter? Get a good one...

Its just for extra prevention to be sure odor doesnt get out. I dont care if it smells like bleach around here people could stand to smell something that smells clean. Just want to ask if it sounds like a good idea.

Thought about putting a big jug of cologne in the room to.

I don't think I'd fuck with leaving open containers of bleach much of anywhere, honestly. Bleach gives off pretty nasty fumes for closed spaces... I realize you'd be venting it out but still, shit happens... knock the bucket over and you're gonna get gassed out by the fumes before you finish cleaning it up... or maybe the window gets closed by someone else in your household... or a pet could get at it... all valid concerns... but maybe not applicable to your situation, that's up to you.

But look, carbon filters WORK. They are effective, that is why people use them. Have you used one before? Are you using one now and finding it ineffective?

Nothing is wrong accept it is warmer now, windows are opened here now, people walking on the sidewalk outside. Need to be proactive, house reeks, cant smell it because I am sitting here and am used to it but if I go outside for a spell and come back in it reeks.

Alright well if you've got a smell problem then go at it... just thought you were describing a preventative approach, maybe before entering flowering with an expectation of it getting worse or something.

I'm not sure blowing bleach fumes in peoples' faces is more discreet tho'... unless you mean a sidewalk pretty far from your space...

Also, what it comes down to is, if you're growing in an enclosed environment and you're exhausting through a decent filter, there shouldn't be much smell left at all. If your house reeks i'd say your filter's carbon is expired or something's amiss...

None of the issues above concern me i dont have any issues as far as my cf just want to add to it.

k.

Your house reeks like weed, but you don't have issues with your cf. Gotcha.

Good luck.
Generally speaking it reeks like mj one of my cf goes into a room and that positive pressure puts it out the window. I will try to put a bucket of bleach and water with a towel hanging in front of the window to make sure / help any smells being forced out dont smell so much like any mj smells .

Carbon Filters work. I was amazed at how well they work. I finally set one up and you cant smell a thing outside my tent. I went a little overkill and bought an 8' one so i could route it through my 8' reflectors.

IDK maybe somebody tried this and found out polyester works better than cotton for one reason or another. Or that the whole idea kinda works but you will smell both at the same time if you have smells escaping.

One time my cf failed me and the wind blew the smell around the corner of the house and that is how I knew it wasnt working. It blows the other way and everybody can smell it. Fixed that problem.

TO THE OP...YOU ASKED....ITS A DUMB IDEA...IF YOU WANT secondary air handeling...put your scrubber in a big u-haul moving box....place a small ozone machine in there with it...then vent to were-ev.......if u cant get a ozone genorator put your smelly stuff in the box with the scrubber ..then its contained...remember bleach fumes are carcinogenic............yuk

I didnt know that.

Maybe I'll try the ona gel and make one of those buckets for it instead of a fan blowing in it I can have the ducting from the room blow into the bucket and then out of it into the room and then it will go out the window.
