newbie Rubbermaid, suggestions???

hey everyone, im a total newbie at growing so im hoping you guys can help out. i built a grow box out a 18 gallon rubbermaid tote and im going to include pictures of it. i know its not very tall but i think its better than the whole pc grow box idea.i will be doing the LST to help with height problem. i have it running and the temp is just over 80f and the humidity is 35%. is this ideal temp and humidity for growing in a small grow box? i have 1 intake fan and 1 exaust fan, both with light traps.should i have more? i only plan to grow 1-2 plants. please let me know what i can do to make this better,anything helps because like i said im a total newbie at growing.

ventilation? bubbles? what's the lighting?

I doubt you can keep heat controlled in there

why bother with that? is someone going to be fooled by what it is?

I have the same rubber maid tote but use it for mixing soil never thought of trying to grow in one.
You might be able to grow 1 if you LST it, maybe. I think your forgetting that fact you have to put a pot in there or soil which will take up have the depth of the box.
But don't let me stop you from trying, just an old man talking.
Good luck though, let us know how it works out.

ventilation like i said i have 1 intake and 1 exaust,both with light traps,plus i will be adding a carbon filter when needed..im going to grow in soil.the lighting is 2-23w cfl soft white bulbs because i plan to flower from seed.i had it running for 10 hrs now and the temp and humidity has stayed the same(80f and 35%).i am growing in this because i need extra stealth because i live with roomates and they dont know about my habit.i have a second tote which will be placed beside it in a closet surrounded by other little totes so it blends in. i need to hide this as good as possible so that is why i plan on growing in this container.also i have seen many succesful grows in boxes this size.

i was thinking about using wide rectangle containers as pots instead of regular pots because regular pots would decrease my height in the plant since im limited on height room.would the plants grow the same if they were in wide rectangle pots and not in regular sized pots???

i was thinking of just making my own saucer to put under the containers, like make the containers lid or something like that but im sure i could find something to use.
but a rectangle pot would work just as good as a normal pot right? i would just have to make an sauce for it.

OK, just so you thought about it.
Next is heat. Growing temps are from 65 at night and 85 during the day. These are the min and max for the plants. 75 is what you want to shoot for during the day so you may want to add a couple of fans. exhaust and intake. It would be nice if you can have a 15 degree difference from day to night helps the plant go through it's places of growing. Of course it is a weed and will grow all most in any condition. But your yield will differ greatly if you don't follow certain rules. This is what I have been going over with you.

yea my temp during the day is somewhere between 75-85f and 60-65 at night.i think this would be perfect for the plants.do you still think i should add some more fans because i think 1intake and 1exaust should do it since the temps are where they should be but like i said im a newbie at this.

Hey, I had to same situation, my temperature during the day is near 82-85F, it is only going to get hotter due to the change of climate. What I did was made a DIY CO2 generator, a pop bottle+yeast+sugar. Read that plants can take up more heat to 90F if there is enough CO2 in the grow box.

Jasonkanz has got it going on! Took the words write out of my reply.
What about your lights? I use cfl's for seedlings. So I'm not sure you have enough watt's.
You said, I think, you have 2 23 watt cfl?

i thought of something like that but im doing this all in a basement which stays pretty cold, i have had it running to get temp readings for 2 days now and the temp is staying at 80-85f when it is on and then 60-65 when it is off. wouldnt that be perfect temps for growing?

my lights are two 23w=100w soft white bulbs which put out 2700k since im flowring from seed. i could always add 1 or 2 more easily. i just thought 2 bulbs would be perfect for 1or2 plants

Dude just a thought...what if u placed another tote ,the same on top...cut the bottom of the one on top...and cut the top out of the one on the bottom...that would give u more height and space??? Looks good what u got ,look like you thought more about it then alot of other guys...Good Luck Dude....peace

i thought of that because i have seen many people do this...but im doing this grow just as an experiment. im going to see if i can actually grow something and just get the hang of everything befor i actually decide to go all the way. after i get a hang of everything i will be growing in something way bigger and well constructed. but for now i just want to practice growing in this little box.
