Changing Nutes in a 5-Gallon Bucket - Question

When changing nutes in a 5-gallon bucket (DWC), do you take the top off of one bucket (plant included) and set it on another bucket with fresh nutes? In other words, is the entire bucket top, plant, and roots, moved to another bucket?

You can do that, say uve got 6 plants and six spare buckets u can jsut create fresh nutes in the sparebucket then chuck the top lid (plant) onto that or u could just have on sapre bucket and just put the plant on it while u create a new set of nutes then put the plant back on. the plant should be fine for 5 minutes if ur gonna take 1 hour or more then thats a diff story.

For that matter you can just make a place to put the top leaving the roots dangle while you prep the bucket. Roots love an air bath!

Wiley: I don't like to let my roots dangle any longer than I have to. I bought an extra bucket of the same size but without a lid. I stuck in an air stone and an air line and it made changing nutes much easier. I mix the nutes in the new bucket #2 while I run a little aquarium pump to insure their circulation. Not the air pump until you're all done.
Once the nutes are mixed and pH is adjusted I take out the little aquarium pump. Next, I take the lid and plant from the top of bucket #1 and put it on the new bucket #2 with the fresh nutes. I hook up the air stone line to bucket #2 and once I clean and dry old bucket #1 I'm done. It's a nice clean operation. Try it you might like it. HSA

I have an empty bucket and a ready made fresh bucket ready. I just let the plant sit in the empty bucket sometimes for 30 mins or so.. roots love the oxygen. No worries about using water or pumps, thats non-sense the little time it will be out of the water.

That's the beauty about buckets is that another one is ready while the used one is in use, so its an easy 30 sec swap. I do leave the plant out and and take my time so it can get all the oxygen the roots crave.

Yes I use another bucket when I want to clean my grow bucket....I pick up the top, roots and all and move to an empty bucket...works good until the plants get bigger...my plants when bloomming get to big to move...Thats when I use a pump that is plumbed into the bottom of my 5 gal buckets...

I will post a pic of the pump I use...it is tee'd into my nutrient line next to my float control bucket...I use 6 buckets for my grow I will post a pic of buckets and you will see the nutient line laying on the floor....You can see that my plants get to big to move in the last pic so plan ahead and rig up a pump...The pump works good but leaves about a pint in buckets so I run fresh water thru just to rinse the old nutes out..Good luck I hope That I helped......nitro....

The last pic I veged for 19 days starting with a clone that was about 10" tall...The strain was a white widow crossed with something I am not sure of..I picked it up from a local grower, It is a big producer and fast grower...It has a nick name of shishcaberry....

Wow someone with some sense on here that's how i do it too. and holding your plants in mid air will not hurt them one bit need to research some more like ebb and flow the roots are exposed to air all the time not sure where some of you guys get your info at.

Nitro - maybe White Widow x Big Bud? That's what I have in the last week of flower. My 1st grow looks like that picture . . . String tied everywhere!
