Topping/Repotting

Hey RIU,
I have a vegging blue widow that I was going to top this morning, but looking at the plant now, I feel she really needs to be repotted and I plan on getting to it in the next 36 hours.

Should I wait to top until she's repotted and growing again?

I say top and then transplant...then you are recovering all at once...lol. I have seen very few issues with repotting, and topping happens in nature all the time...the plant is able to easily deal with both of these stresses...so...I would do it all at once and then leave it be to grow happy and unfettered.

I would re-pot, and top on the same day.

A part of me thinks you might want to re-pot, wait 3 days, then top...

but again, I would probably just do them both at once.

Good luck.

Yeah she seems pretty tough, I was thinking she could handle it but worry, too much stress is never a good thing. I just want the biggest, healthiest plant I can have.

Well then, I'm off to the store for some more soil and stuff!
"I know, if I grow it, I won't have to pay for it anymore!" WRONG Again IslandDelight....

People talk about repotting like it's a serious stress. What the fuck are people doing to their plants when they are repotting them? I know some people like to give the root ball small rustling just to loosen it up but it's not like you're cutting roots or banging it against the wall. Hell, I think transplanting to a larger pot relieves a lot of stress a plant can be enduring by being in an undersized pot. I've never seen transplant other than a clone take any time to "recover" from it's transplant. Most plants instantly thrive when moved to a larger container in my experience.

and I agree with this, I see my plants take off after repotting. Just worried with a top the added stress or whatever....fuck it it's done and it's going to be fine because it's a badass plant!

Topped yesterday, repotted tonight (and just in time I'd say, as growth had dramatically slowed down in the last 3 days)
Let y'all know how I fair!
