Light Leaks

Hey I just noticed there is a red LED light on my AC that's in my bud room. Is this bad for the dark? Is it going to cause any harm?

why would you take the chance? one hermie and a chunk of your crop goes to shit. cover it.

A pal of mine thought this , he grows outdoors , right behind his driveway , it's no panic for him he lives in Guyana,
Anyway he says that every night for about 10 mins when he get's home his car headlights light his plants up big time , with no ill effect ,
I work in my bloom room with a 40w incandecent red bulb during dark period with no ill affect,

A small red power on led on his ac/unit will have no affect,
Evening :joint:

Don’t bash me but, I’ve been growing for three years now and never had a hermaphrodite.
If light leaks were the common cause, I’d own a seed bank right now.
There are LED’s in my flower room; I’ve screwed up the timers many times, I’ve left the door open
to the flower room at least a dozen times, and left the ceiling light on overnight….

I knock on wood all day long ( :

I've never worried about making things blacker than where the sun don't shine lol, never had more than 5 or 10 seeds in any given grow, and over the years that is bound to happen regardless... I think a cerrtain percentage of growers believe in light leaks for the same reason some people believe in god/heaven/hell... lol... Why take the chance...

I had a red LED on a heater for two grows with no ill affects. Lets face it thought if you see a light just double duct tape it and eliminate your concerns. EASY!

Yeah i hear ya ,
It's just this though ,
Marijuana plants need a certain amount of Lumens to even grow,
The light being emitted by a single red power on led is hardly even noticed by the plants , let alone shocking them into turning hermie,
It's just not worth thinking about,
Most breeders test their feminised beans for stability with a lot more stress endurance than that...

Agreed. Just wanted to point out for those with an anxed simple measures alleviate the concern (MAYBE). We are all told from the beginning complete darkness but as you know that isn't completely accurate. No more than natural full moon the standard but a little light here and there has never presented problems for me.

Very valid , moonlight etc , it's never completely dark outside..........

Full moon is one lux, which is basically one lumen/sq meter. Much more than that I would worry.
