So i orders some seeds and the place sent me 5 free one now this is my first time so im going to start with the free ones wanna know how and when do i tell if they are male or female my seeds are germing right now so no pics

If you veg them for 6-8 weeks they will be sexually mature and start to show pre flowers. Other wise if you start 12/12 (flowering) before they show thier gender you will see the sex within 2 weeks. Males will show first (usually about 7-10 days of 12/12) so its good to get rid of them before the fems start to show sex. Fems can take a couple of weeks to show thier pistils.

Related question- If I have been growing 12/12 from seed, how long should I expect to wait before I begin to see preflowers? I have a couple of little plants that have just recently started to grow aggressively this week, and in my newbie excitement, I want everything to be something that it's not.

research, dude. don't be lazy. i suggest a grower's manual. there are many.

I'm with scroglodyte...there ain't no substitute for doing your homework. Watch the videos from Jorge Cervantes if you really don't wanna read. Look at as many male and female pics as possible so you can spot a nutsack(pollen sack) from 100 yards away in the dark...that's the key. Also, watch out for those shemales as everything will seem cool at first until she tells you to put it in her butt???

yeah i thought it would be tough to tell. its not. do what these ppl are telling you and look at some pics of each. and dont worry about it you can definitely tell the males balls before they open and do any damage. one thing i didnt get told was that the males typically (but not always) show first so...
