id fix the angle on the blades if you could so there isnt as much air being moved.
they are metal so u could bend just got to make sure u bend them all the same so it is still balanced or u can shorten bearings life in fan
and u want some air movement but downward to clear leaves
im trying to remember if ac blows down on coil or up drawing heat out been so long since i was a ac installer if it draws up u just flip thing upside down or u will just sprayed in the face with leaves and have quite a mess to clean up

Ahhhh, THAT kind! Excellent. I was picturing a window unit. That makes WAY more sense.
with some modification it should do it
and i think they do blow up and and just flipping it over wont but u can make a fan enclosure for it very easy if the power leads can be reversed to reverse direction of motor or possible take fan blades off motor shaft and flip fan blades over

i am going to go see if i can get one in a few days from installer i used to work for and will be posting about building it like walk u through it
to make it easier to make yours

nice, a little bit of downwards airflow would be perfect. may just get a high power metal fan and remove the guard on the back.

OK you guys settled down some so here's some answers to the blade problen.

Take the fan apart,
Take the fan blade and using a prir of tin snips cut off all the blades as close to the hub as possible.
Then I got a piece of 1/16" thick 1"wide and 16"long. and atached it

when making something like that please be careful & have a good idea on the Laws/Rules of Physics we live by..

Do not have an overpowered fan/motor.. do not use supersharp bladess.. If possible, avoid installing your own blade, unless you can be SURE it is centered.. last thing you need is a lawnmower blade to get flung off.

i disagree a flying lawn mower blade can be useful on chopping rest of plants down if aimed right

Just turn the lawn mower upside down & rig it to run full blast.. that should trim pretty well.. I wouldn't do it while high though.

You lay the steel blade across the hub of the fan and draw a line on both sides of the steel blade.
Then I took a 4' grinder and put a bevel on both sides of the hub,
carful you angle it so it tweeks the new steel a little like a fan blade.
Then I attached the blade using self tapping screws.

Haha.

Tek:

Step 1: Flip your lawnmower over.

Step 2: Slap a piece of chainlink fence over the top.

Step 3: Death.

Hahaha... I feel like we all probably should have been disclaimering our random ideas now. Yes, what you said. Safety first and all that.
