You need a fan to keep things from causing mold and enough soft breeze to help the plants straighten their branches to hold the buds they will produce. I use a couple 6" clip on fans.

There are actually three kinds of air movement to consider:

1. Overall air exchange. You want the total cubic feet of the air inside your tent exchanged with outside air at least once every five minutes. Two inexpensive 240cfm 6" duct fans, one blowing in and one blowing out, will usually do this.

2. Cooling the light. You may or may not want separate outside-to-outside ventilation for your light, especially if it's an HID in a cool tube.

3. Internal air movement. You want a small oscillating fan set on low to blow very gently on the plants. This ensures CO2 absorption and makes the stems stronger.

This is just my idea of what works for me. Others here on RIU will have other ideas, so try to get a consensus. Just my $.02 worth, and YMMV. Peace!:peace:

i love my vortex fan. its a really passive air flow that pushes my girls to stand strong but not wind burn. then again i have 4 fans total with 2 always running. and im starting to see that different setups thrive in different grow rooms.. good luck on ur grow

I really like oscillating pillar fans. They provide even air current over a varied height with no installation necessary and often have several convenient built in settings. They take up little room and are cheap as fuck - I've never been to a garage sale that didn't have one for $5 or less.

I'd go with a short oscillating. For a few plants. You don't want to blow them away. You just want to move some air, OK?
How many plants have you got? That will have to do with what you get. More then a few plant's you may want to go with the tall stand fan.

I don't save my male plants. I chop them up and put them in the trash. Some people do to make hash. Some use them in compost. What do you plan to do with your male plants if I might ask?

I am still new to growing but I would be very careful with that male plat you grow... iv heard that pollen can travel from one tent to another quite easy. Might impregnate your sensimilia. ;)
