have any of you heard of this stuff? its herbivore insect poop thats supposedly has many great qualities as warding off pests and fugal diseases by triggering release of different plant chemicals from the inside - out. Good for foliar and fungal tea. New on the market. My shop gave me a promo bag to try out. Sweet! Gotta wait to try this stuff...says not use with dolomite lime so i'm limited in plants to test this in. Only one of my plants supersoil doesn't have lime in it. Check out the info below or go to www.onfrass.com. Will experiment with this and keep ya'll updated. Seems pretty innovative and promising.

Nice, i think i want to try it, lets see if their website tells us exactly what insects are making the frass

Thanks for sharing. The dolomite lime limitation is kind of a deal breaker for a lot of grows, I would think.

got a response back from one of there staff....dolomite lime is ok but they just recommend other types of lime particularly AG lime, oyster shell lime or calcium carbonate

Did they say WHY it shouldn't be used with soils containing dolomite lime?:?

Chris, You can use dolomitic lime. We simply try to suggest the most sustainable options. You can use gypsum as well. If you're only using Frass as an additive and not an organic base nutrient you really shouldn't need to worry about adding anything to supplement Ca. Hope this helps. hey yeah it's been a couple months, i am interested as well :)

I had planned on picking up a bag and adding it to the list of my amendments, variety is a good thing for sure. The way i figure it, there's a lot of insect carcasses/poop in soil and built up over time, i can only imagine it's probably a larger percentage than we think - the percent of soil that is composed of "insects."

ive been using it for awhile. I use it as an additive. 1 cup/cu.ft. I use lime also. same dose. no probs. I think it is the magnesium in it that conflicts with dolomite lime, the stuff the recommend you to use is all cal, no mag. I checked it awhile back. pretty sure frass is just high mag. I use it to stimulate sars response in plants. tricks them into thinking they are being attacked or getting sick. making them more vigorous.

I cant remember what I paid. 3 5lb bags lasted quite awhile, just ran out. i'd say 8-10 cups? im bad at guestomation though.

So with the travel cost around $65.00 just kidding. They always get you for shipping, will have to look around and make a few calls (semi-locally) before a online purchase myself. I have to tag on a extra $20. for gas sometimes to get what I need, but I usually make the trip worth it. More now with the gas prices today, fuck me!!!

its hard to see a difference each day, but its supposed to make your plants healthier, more vigorous, and more resistant. I can honestly say that since ive started using it, my plants have continuously been very healthy, very vigorous, and I dont have mildew or bug issues. until that changes, I donf see it leaving my regimen. :)
