You have a point, but why would anyone want to drive around with MJ within reach? That just seems to want to push your luck?

Do you think it should be okay to burn a fat doob then drive around town?
Ya, who would ever think of smoking a joint while driving? In the 20+ years of smoking I have never seen anyone ever smoke a joint or a bowl in a vehicle. 20 years of construction job sites, never smoked in a vehicle. Everyone I know pulls over and everyone gets out of the vehicle and we stand around the car or truck and smoke it, then we wait a few hours and all get back in the vehicle.
I can get off work and stop at the bar and pace three beers easily and stay under the limit and drive. So if I get off work should I go to the bar and then smoke a fatty in the parking lot, then go in and drink those three beers while I come down off the marijuana, then drive? If they want to charge me for operating under the influence - JUST LIKE ALCOHOL, then they should treat it like alcohol. Our government is nothing but double standards.
The simple plain fact is that the mores rules and laws they make, the more rules and laws will be broken - and we all know the mores laws that are broken, the more money flows into the courts. They will work on making so many laws that they need to hire a bunch more people to work on enforcing those laws and our circle of fuck keeps spinning.

I drive a pick up truck and don't have a trunk. My tailgate does lock, but nothing would prevent someone from hopping over it and stealing whatever is in the bed. My truck is my only vehicle.

I would have no problem with keeping the meds in a lock box, locked, in the cab behind the seat.

Yes, that would work. What I want to know is - what about women? I know my girlfriend won't empty her purse into a lock box every time she goes somewhere. No way in hell. And she shouldn't have to. Personally I don't carry meds in my pocket, I will simply start locking my glovebox or use a lockbox or safe myself.

No..but the point is : Who Cares? why do you need that cannabis within reach? How does it hurt you to put it in the trunk? The only people that should be worried about that change, would be the one's that want a one hitter in their pocket while they drive..so they can use it.

Rule #1 of transporting pot has ALWAYS been: No use, smell,or buzz of any kind while transporting. And in the trunk was always a good idea with any quantity, like say a care giver with 12.5oz's..for his patients.

Or are you driving downtown to look for patients..on the street..and need it handy to pass through the window?

Why does he sound like leo to me?

So, how are you going to seal the container of cannabis? Alcohol come with a seal, and a full bottle. Open container IS against the law. And your reason for smoking a fatty in your scenario is recreational..not medicinal..nothing you just said makes any sense at all in regards to a medical cannabis law.

One thing they DO need to figure out is how to test someone to see if they are stoned at the time. Unlike alcohol, cannabis will show long after it's no longer active in your system.

We used to call drug test for employment liquid IQ tests...and shake our heads at the thought that we may have to disqualify someone for cannabis, who may have been only an occasional light user, while some hard drug user would pass after a couple days without using.

epilepsy patient wants to pull over to the side of the road to smoke a bowl because he feels a seizure coming on.

pulls over. gets out of car. grabs medicine lockbox. opens it up with the key that is on his key ring do the keys were taken out of the ignition, begins to grind up the weed...

and SEIZURE!!!!!

..or he could have had a packed bowl on his person, being a responsible person and not smoking it while driving, and then park... spark it up. seizure avoided.

off he goes when the effects do not impair his driving.

and i would argue many MS, parkinson's, may need the medicine to drive better..or to drive at all!

It doesn't make sense to you Bob. If I get a head ache and take an aspirin, is that recreational? If I unwind after work is that recreational? Is a massage medical? Chiropractor? Where are your lines at bob? I do not think I have the right to judge whether you need your medicine.
I was putting my groceries in the trunk of my car at a grocery store and I watched a woman put her car in reverse and slowly back all the way across the isle and slowly crash right into my car. I was yelling at her to stop and I ran up and hit her window, she had no idea she was in gear! She had oxygen on and was on a bunch of pills. We called the cops and made a report, she did a few grand in damage. The police officer said there was nothing he could do until she has had several accidents and that was her first one. She told the officer she had no idea she was in gear and has been having trouble. Go worry about her Bob.
I am 100% for a police officer to write my ticket and get the fuck on. I don't want or need that cock sucker sticking his face in my truck for anything. The whole "I smell weed" probable cause should be stuck right up their ass too. If I am stoned when I get pulled over the cop should have a reason he/she pulled me over and a charge of what I was doing wrong. As opposed to a cop pulling you over and then seeing what they can pin on you.
One time I walked up on a job site and before I reached the house the foreman yelled "Hey, you got any weed?!". I did. Actually Bob, I don't think I know anyone at all that doesn't smoke weed in a vehicle. Do you know people buy portable vaporizers to vap while driving! That outta piss you off.

I don't know if someone that has frequent and sudden seizures should be driving at all...but I do get your point. I have Parkinson's, and cannabis DOES improve my motor skills AND alertness. Has to be a good Sativa to work..otherwise It will just make the fatigue with Parkinson's worse.

However, The chances of a cop suspecting I'm using cannabis is zero...unless he smells it, which he won't, unless I were smoking it in the car. Hell, I'm 55, drive an "old man" car, have short hair and drive responsibly....why would I get pulled over? And if I did, say for a tail light or something, why would they suspect me? I'm cautious, but not paranoid.

I am also NOT the guy that would want to prosecute. That is, unless I were doing something really abusive to the law. They want to prosecute someone that can be made out to be abusing the law, not someone that could mount a legitimate medical defense. I doubt you'll see many MS, cancer, PD or or other heavily documented patients being "rail roaded".

Hell, so long as I'm clean on plant counts, dry amounts, and smoking IN the car...I'm the case that will make a defense lawyer drool at the chance to make a name for himself...You just know Jeff Fieger is waiting for the right case to defend...

Bob, seriously. With you having Parkinson's I would RATHER you drove on medibles than forcing you to drive not on any. That is serious shit. You should look into Jack the Ripper for Parkinson's. You situation is blowing your arguement in my opinion because I agree - cannabis WILL improve your motor skills. I would rather you be safe than legal!

Get to the back of the bus mentality. Patients need to let politicians know it is not acceptable to treat them like criminals. Reasonable is same sort of practices on similar products (classify by value or toxicity, whatever you want). Its no business of the gov whats in my trunk or in my back seat unless its about to explode and kill people or damage property. Marijuana is not a clear and present danger that must be kept away from any place with children (they do get sick too) or whatever arbitrary hysteria based line they want to define.

If, however, there is similar legislation to transport politicians in locked trunks, I would support that.
Bravo. TY, this is the point i am making. This is FAR beyond cannabis and what I or anyone else does with it. Bill Schuette and the State has pushed this into a civil rights issue, and the State Republicans and went so far as to attack my daughter because of her need for birth control to help regulate her hormones, probably like many of your duaghters, wives, sisters and mothers have had to use....

It is NOT about Cannabis anymore for me.

Politicians aren't treating patients like criminals. The are simply separating patients and criminals. The vast majority of these bills are aimed not at patients..but the so called care givers that sprung up everywhere. Specifically, the profiteering greedy kind, the criminals, so that patients can get medicinal quality meds at fair prices. Or grow their own.

And if that's your definition of reasonable, then we need more legislation to put more things in the trunk..not to keep cannabis out of the trunk. Alcohol SHOULD have to go in the trunk..screw your right to have alcohol in the car. What about my right to not get killed by your drunk, or stoned, driving?

The med law has simply created too many wanna be drug lords. It's turned into a circus of putz's buying grow equipment thinking they have a right to grow weed for profit. That's what politicians, and LEO are trying to control. Half the people growing as care givers wouldn't know good cannabis if it hit them in the face. They don't test it..they just peddle it to make some bucks and beat uncle sam.

Should a great grower make some profit? Sure..but that's not what's happening. The best quality cannabis doesn't get to "patients" at a farmers market, or at most dispensaries. It stays, as it always has, in very small circles.

The med law has been abused by so many, that the patients will eventually suffer. And the loudest complainers seem to be the profiteers.
So move to Russia Bob. they already control your every fucking move. If you want a Nanny fucking state MOVE the fuck out of mine.

I grow my own strain...no idea what it is, other that it's a true Sativa both in appearance and effect. Seeds came from Viet Nam, could be anything. But it test great for my PD..High thc, 20% plus, and thcv at around 3% (I use uvb lighting) the thcv is what "regulates" the effect in PD patients...

Jack the Ripper has a THCv level of over 5% and is supposed to be the leading strain for Parkinson's. A 5 pack of regular seeds is $50. Then you could even cross a male of Jack the Ripper with your 'nam strain.

I am sorry to hear you have Park's, Its a nasty evil thing. GL and I hope you find great relief for it.

The man is and has always been my last worry, up until the last 12 yrs, and its a worry, not because i think im being oppressed by him, its because EVERY FUCKING AMERICAN is being oppressed by him.

May be a great idea. Only issue I have is that it took me forever to figure out how to get the strain I have to perform consistently. A first grow with another strain, no matter what the potential, could be pretty un impressive. I plan on just sticking with what I know..It works, I never get "immune" to it, heck it even taste yummy.

You don't get those high end potential numbers until you find the proper "zone" for the plant to thrive. That sometimes takes a few grows...

Wow..so now we should just open our borders to anyone...move on in! The sooner you drop your "Michigan militia" glasses...and quit thinking your thoughts represent the majority of US Citizens...you may be able to say something logical.

Called half of the list. Spent so much time on the phone I completely used up the battery. I'll finish calling the list tomorrow.

Brad Jacobsen is anti that's for sure.

All in all they did listen to me. I explained about our need for mmj, especially my husband. Who will be having neck surgery and will need it even more.

Remember that people are more receptive in the morning hours. They start to need a siesta and wind down in the afternoon. So make your calls in the AM if you can.

Well there is a ton of info on this site and several other for that particular strain. If you go to dispensaries or know of other means of selection you may want to put that on your radar and try it.
